Title explains all, Is it worth the 360 dollars CA?
Yes

Which brand is it by the way?
Gigabyte.
It's the cheapest one.
Gigabyte is alright, go for it.
You can probably get it for cheaper on ebay.
Get a 5xxx series from ATi. Nvidia cards tend to be overpriced.

and if you dont have a well vented case expect it to be really, really hot.
fermi will burn down your house
and if you dont have a well vented case expect it to be really, really hot.
the same can be said for every single card ever made
@every single 4xx v 5xxx argument ever:
oh gee those maybe 10 degrees over ATi's stock coolers will kill us all
I mean it's not like you'll be using a decent case in a built that has a fermi card in it or anything
airflow is for SQUARES

Don't forget it will be summer soon. The air temperature will be warmer than before, so your graphic card (and other components) might run hotter than usual.
Except if you have a watercooling system, but it's too expensive to be profitable in the long run.
oh no a few more degrees, that's going to make a world of difference

holy shit I might have to increase fan speeds by a LITTLE no one can save me now
Buy a ati card just to fuck with nvidia fanboys, oh yeah also brag about so awesome and bang for you buck the graphic card was on evgas forum the home of nvidia fanboys.

1 bad card clearly means the entire line is bad, right
I'll recommend the 5850 for the OP, especially powercolours PCS+ edition for the sake of the great cooler.
Else just go for the GTX470, nothing is wrong with it, except you don't get as much FPS for the price as you do with the 5850.

Unless Dx11 then FPS/$ is in the 470's court.
Currently, the GTX 470 is cheaper than a 5870 and performs way better. Fermi runs a little hot, but as long as your case is free of dust, I think it should be fine.

I have a 470... it doesn't perform WAY better than the 5870... you must be on crack. It only Definitively outperforms the 5870 in DX11 applications, otherwise it is outperformed by/on par with the HD5870.
Get it because it has PhysX, and ATI cards don't
Seriously, it's worth it

Dynamic toilet paper! I will definitely buy this card.
-snip-
Alright it's either 5850 or 470 for me, and don't the 470's new 257 drivers make it 20% faster than the 5850 or something, and fan speed doesn't bother me so I can increase the fan speeds, my current PC is already loud so I'm used to it.

Although as a 470 owner I must warn you... the awesome may cause your skull to cave in.

I find the drivers handling of the fans just fine. When idle the fans are at 44% and pretty quiet with the PCB being ~42*C and the GPU sensors at ~53*C. Fans are very quiet when idle anyway, don't get loud till around 80%.
Running 2 GTX 480s.

The 480 HSF is better than the 470's, the 480 does better on auto(Until you get to full load). for the 470 you have to set it at like 60%, although IMHO its not annoying.

I can see why you would like PhysX, the dynamic particles and sheer number of interactivity is great. It's a shame ATI cards can't do this and I wonder, especially with scenes where there were just more particles, (that big boss, gas mask guy) why couldn't they just set it render more of them, or on the cpu? It makes sense why nVIDIA would want this exclusive, it's too cool to share.
PhysX is great for immersion, it really sucks you in if it's done properly. The bad thing is that if you get used to it you can never go back to plainer things without thinking "this scene could be so much prettier"
No. Not really worth it.

Mafia 2
It just became worth it.
