Symbian is now officially dead, Nokia confirmed today. In the company’s earnings announcement that came out a little while ago, Nokia confirmed that the 808 PureView, released last year, was the very last device that the company would make on the Symbian platform
About time.
Wow, it's taken so long. I hope Nokia can really build up steam again, I don't know anybody who owns a Nokia any more.
I'm definitely ok with this. Their Lumia lineup blew expectations.

lumia 800 represent :)
I wish they used Android.
The Android market is saturated enough as is.
And let me just add that it's not necessarily a critique.

I own a Lumia 820. It's really great to use.
I'd buy a Nokia Android in a heartbeat.
The Android market is saturated enough as is.
It's saturated by Samsung spewing out new phone models everytime their directors are on the 'loo.
Nokia Could've pimpsmaked them now and then when Sammy pulled such stunts.
Not even Nokia could get Android running smoothly.
And for this pony's next trick: the same trick as before!
Totally gonna get a Lumia once I have cash and my 5228 ceases working.

i still own a nokia s60v5 phone, don't really feel like changing any time soon either
Man, last time I remember having a Nokia was the 3310.
last nokia i had was never sadly, Went from Boost to Sidekicks then Iphone
Windows Phone is a great and smooth os. Honestly if I could choose right now I'd get a WP8. Hopefully Nokia stays in that direction. I don't need a thousand useless apps; just a smooth experience that looks different from the rest.
I'm a happy windows phone 7.8 (I got an official ROM from Nokia's servers) user, I love the whole experience, sure I run into problems such as apps not being really good (spotify wont fucking sync shit) or zune being a bitch to work with but its really smooth and lovely to use
you know my only big complaint I have with WP is app selection, but tbh I have my tablet which is android and it does practically what I would do if I had a good android phone

i have these
ignore the other stuff
I still use a Nokia N70. Once the battery shits itself I'll get a Nokia smartphone, mostly because I've never had an issue with a Nokia phone.
I'd buy a Nokia Android in a heartbeat.
you guys say this about most things but at the end of the day I highly doubt you'd get it
besides Nokia and Microsoft are working together and Nokia loves the WP platform
Nokia hardware running Android is like lipstick on a pig.
are you insulting android or nokia
I tried to seriously use Symbian once. I like how you have well made dictonaries, text document editors and all of those little things that you have to download yourself after you get your device like Android, iOS and WP7. Symbian had like everything you needed out of the box.
I think he's saying that Nokia wouldn't be able to properly make a smooth android device

>android
>smooth
Unfortunately even the highest end phones with quad cores still get lag on Android compared to low spec, 1GHz or less single core WP7 that are smooth as fuck. The problem is Java and bad coding.

Vanilla Android runs smooth and rarely lags, if ever. It's the crap the carriers puts on them that slows them down(launchers, keyboards, backups...). The nice thing about Windows Phone is aside from the easy to remove apps, the carriers can make few other changes to the phone.
waiting till April to hopefully get a Lumia 920 when the exclusive to ATT shit drops.

I own a Nokia Lumia 822, its a really good phone.

From his wording I am assuming Nokia is the lipstick and Android is the pig.

Aside from immediately after boot I've never had this "lag" people always talk about. Are you sure you aren't confusing poorly coded apps with the OS being poorly coded? Just because Where's My Angry Jetpack With Friends is lagging doesn't mean Android is shit

Android is Virtual machined while iOS and WP7 run on native code. Java is a resource hog too. Always been.

Sounds like both.
Sounds like both.
Most likely both but I would see Nokia making android phones without too much problems aside from the Windows Phone part. Good to note that phone makers such as Samsung and HTC have Windows Phone 7 phones.
