• Headset doesn't show up in Playblack Devices, neither does it play sound

My headset works perfectly fine on my other (shitty) computer, but when I plug it in to my computer I use for gaming, it doesn't work. I know it's not a failure of the port because it notifies me that a device has been plugged in. I know it's not the headset because I've tried my older headsets and they don't work either. I checked to see if disabled devices were not showing but they were. I checked device manager and it does not show there either. My drivers are up to date. It started when I plugged both my monitor audio and headset into my computer at the same time. I unplugged my headset for a little bit but when I plugged it back in the audio in the headset stopped working. The monitor sound will mute itself when I plug the headset in, and when I unplug it the sound will go back to the monitor. It seems to much like a failure of the headset but it works perfectly fine on my other computer.
How did you manage to plug both the monitor audio and headset audio into the pc at the same time? What headset is it? I assume you're on windows 7. When the headset is plugged in and you are playing music does the windows volume mixer equalizer bars show anything?
I have 2 Mic and Audio ports on my PC. One in the back and one in the front. It's a Koss CS•100 (Shitty, I know...) but it doesn't really matter since I've tried many other headsets. Yes, it does show that music is playing but since I can't find my headset under playback devices, this doesn't really say anything about my headset being broken.
Sounds to me like the front panel is faulty. When plugging an headphone jack into the pc it should not give you any notification the same with speakers. I think the notification is probably from the front panel either malfunctioning or simply not having a working driver. Try plugging the headset into the port at the back of the pc that you currently have your monitor speakers connected to.
Didn't work. But I do think the front panel could be faulty because when I plug my headset into the front, nothing happens. And when I plug it into the back, it notifies me that a device has been plugged in but it still does not show up in playback devices.
That really is a strange problem as I've never known any computer to notify of a 3.5mm device being plugged into the audio card jack port. How does it work with the monitor speakers plugged into the front port?
Works perfectly fine besides a little static noise when it's not playing audio. But when I plug the monitor audio into the back port, it's VERY low quality. Quite strange...
Drivers?
