There's something for everyone at McDonald's. Unless you order a side of porn. The fast-food chain is reportedly cracking down on those watching adult videos in its US restaurants. As the New York Post reports, McDonald's bowed to pressure from Internet advocacy group Enough is Enough (EIE), which this week praised the Golden Arches for its decision to block pornographic material on its public Wi-Fi. "Parents can have peace of mind that, when they or their children go to McDonald's, they will have a safer and more friendly Wi-Fi experience," EIE President Donna Rice Hughes said in a statement. The nonprofit launched its "National Porn-Free Wi-Fi" campaign in 2014, encouraging McDonald's and Starbucks to ban explicit content on their wireless networks. According to EIE, they did so quickly in the UK, but have been slower to move in the US. Earlier this year, Mickey D's started filtering porn on the Wi-Fi at corporate-owned US restaurants, and has extended that option to franchises. Starbucks has not responded regarding its US stores, EIE says. "McDonald's is committed to providing a safe environment for our customers, and we are pleased to share that Wifi filtering has been activated in the majority of McDonald's nearly 14,000 restaurants nationwide," a company spokeswoman told PCMag. Starbucks did not immediately respond to a request for comment. EIE admitted that it was not exactly a hotbed of porn viewing. "While McDonald's wasn't aware of any pornography related incidents in their stores, their move to offer filtered Wi-Fi is clearly one more major step in the right direction. The bottom line - the majority of McDonald's restaurants now offer safer Wi-Fi access for their patrons." "There are many studies on the deleterious effects of Internet pornography on the developing brains of children and teens and the fueling role of porn on child sexual exploitation," Hughes said. "Parents need to know which family restaurants are safe from online threats. Other companies would be wise to follow McDonald's lead. Chick-fil-A and Panera Bread also filter porn, according to EIE. Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
Well, I've always found it funny that these things are always done because of a "Think of the children" group rather than just having common sense. Its' bizarre that there were no filters in these public wi-fis for franchise junk joints to begin with. The only people who would use this and I'd think would have a good reason to look at porn in a public place would be the homeless and that's about it.
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
Sometimes I like to walk into McDonalds after a long day of catching Pokemon and just open up some NSFW. Ain' nothin wrong with that!
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
No one, or at least there's no reports of this ever happening. So this does not surprise me.
I know that McDonalds is greasy but what kind of gross fuck are you to be watching porn at McDonalds, let alone consider it? "Ugh, halfway to Chicago but I just gotta let one off!"
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
You're in for a big surprise if you visit any big cities. People do gross stuff like that in public all the time, and they usually do a bad job of hiding it.
that's surprising, usually i assume any public wi-fi blocks porn sites by default or at the very least, why the hell would i risk trying to look at porn from a public wi-fi [sp]that's what my mobile data is for[/sp]
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
Friend of mine used to work in a public library. Apparently people use the laptops/computers for porn constantly.
I know for sure 4chan has been blocked (at least at Dutch McDonald's) for a while, I just always assumed porn was blocked too.
ugh now I have to get a VPN service to watch porn in mcdonalds, god damn it
Sorry, you can no longer watch pornography while eating an Egg McMuffin.
Or making one. Shit.
Friend of mine used to work in a public library. Apparently people use the laptops/computers for porn constantly.
I will never forget the memory of having glanced aside when finished using a library computer to see a guy with a nice clean haircut and fancy suit and briefcase watching hardcore fisting without so much as trying to hide what's on his screen. He wasn't jacking it but come on, dude.
Just get a vpn. I pay <$4 a month for mine
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
you mean you don't look at your titty pics on your phone every once in awhile?
Friend of mine used to work in a public library. Apparently people use the laptops/computers for porn constantly.
That's a library though, if you google "webcam library porn" you'll find plenty of people masturbating in libraries. [del]I assume there's less about fapping at a McDonalds[/del] nope I googled it there's just as many and a news article came up about some woman masturbating with a happy meal toy :suicide:
I'm iffy on this decision Looking at porn doesn't exactly mean people are going to masturbate If I'm browsing /v/ and someone posts an image with boobs of course I'm going to open it up, but it doesn't mean I'm going to bust a nut under my table. But then you have people who do actually use the wifi to get their motor running by visiting actual porn sites and the fast food teen workers shouldn't have to clean up that shit for minimum wage.
what confuses me is how this even stops anyone I doubt the people doing it are bringing in whole computers. Cell phones have wifi from their data and a lot can activate a mobile hotspot for laptops. so who is this stopping? some kid with no phone on his 3DS?
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
There are people who perform porn in public places. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest that someone would watch it in public.
Big Mac with Big Tits?
there goes my weekend
There are people who perform porn in public places. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest that someone would watch it in public.
it's my favorite genre tbh
Or making one. Shit.
McDonald's boys we out here.
nothing like a mcdouble and a pair of double d's
I honestly will never understand why anti porn advocates even exist. "It harms children" well so does tobacco and alcohol porn is not fucking meant for children, learn to parent and let adults enjoy whatever content they want, even if they're sitting in some corner of the restaurant you happen to be in. Fuck sake
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
I work at a lan cafe and I often have to tell people to keep it pg-13.
thank god most of my porn comes from my twitter timeline anyway, technically I look at porn pretty much every time I'm on my phone, which is a lot going to gelbooru is just too much work
Who would even look up porn in a public place to begin with?
Couldn't you just park in the lot and leech off of the wifi if you want a wank in quasi private? I know I've leeched off of a starbucks wifi from the lot when I was trying to confirm an appointment before.
