Alot of people say the porn progresses, and it changes your standards. I don't know if this is true or not. But I'm sure alot of us are guilty of looking for that "perfect scene". And when we find that scene, it's always a little harder to get turned on by a scene or picture that we find to be "average". This is the case for me alteast. Do you think porn fucks with your head? If its a matter of setting your standards too high couldn't you just go to one of those crazy sites you guys like and look at homemade stuff?
I guess it can fuck with you if you watch way too much over it. also massdebating sounds like masturbating ha
I came (no pun intended) just for the thread title. (User was banned for this post ("This is NOT debating" - Craptasket))
Too much of anything fucks with your head, including porn. I guess.
No. 1. " "More Net access, less rape." A 10 percent increase in Net access yields about a 7.3 percent decrease in reported rapes. " - Todd Kendall, studies show a decrease in the 15-19 year old population of becoming rapists 2. Allows those not so socially adept to prevent them from exploding. 3. Wanking is natural. Porn helps it.
Porn is good in moderation. Just don't end up with 1/3rd of your 1TB external Hard Drive be dominated by porn. That is unhealthy. Having been in that very situation, I should know.
Don't know why I'm saying this but I've got separate standards when it comes to what I look for in porn and real life. And I've never had problems with going into more extreme material, either.
As people have said previously it's all right in moderation, But chronic masturbation (I.E. wanking it erry day) will have negative effects on your brain according to several studies. This could be anything from tiredness, depression and social awkwardness. Like any addiction, though chronic masturbation isn't necessarily addictive masturbation, it will make you hungrier for more extreme sources of stimulation. This can come in the form of unusual fetishes or even homosexual tendencies in heterosexual people. This is because in the wild, the brain doesn't come in contact with so much sexual stimulation as in the world of internet porn.
I think the definition of chronic is more down to the factor over which is prevents one from seeking other occupations rather than frequency. If you're in a relationship and having sex every night, is that chronic sex?
I've been consuming porn pretty much continuously since my mid-teens. I've never experienced any adverse effects, or any odd standards in women. The girls I've been with have all been quite different, physically and otherwise, and I've enjoyed them all. Infact, I've enjoyed command over considerable sexual prowess (to blow my own trumpet). Causing multiple orgasms has been routine since the first time I had sex (she burst out of my room and announced to everyone "SEVEN TIMES!!!" (Well, we were a bit drunk)) , and has been a constant trend with all my encounters with women. I've held long term happy relationships, no problem. If anything, porn made me very conscious of a women's pleasure, and educated me on how to please a women. It showed me how women can be sexy in many different ways. If anything, my taste in porn requires the women to be pleasured above all else. I feel well educated and liberated thanks to my healthy porn habit.
Depends on the individual. If an individual has trouble discerning reality from fantasy, then it's entirely possible that long-time exposure to pornography could distort perceptions so that reality and fantasy merges for them. AKA they expect reality to be like porn. This trouble discerning them may not be obvious or evident at first, mind you. It could be a deep subconscious thing that takes years of constant exposure to "train" the individual's subconscious to perceive reality differently. Does it happen? Without doubt. There have been many studies suggesting that pornography has negative effects on people, and most of those tend to focus on relationships and the exposed individuals' perceptions of them. However, I think the correlations are a bit skewed - they don't necessarily suggest that pornography, in themselves, mutates an individual's perception. Rather, I feel it is that these people have issues with perception, and they fall victim to these issues, and thusly the porn alters their perceptions. I would not be surprised if it was revealed through studies that those same people whose perceptions on relationships are "altered due to porn" can find other perceptions altered by exposure. Take one of those people and expose them day after day to semi-realistic (I say semi because porn isn't realistic, but only semi-realistic) content involving violence, or politics, or anything else you can think of, and I would imagine that their perceptions on those things would change in much the same way In conclusion, does porn alter perceptions? I argue no. The porn isn't to blame, but rather the individuals who are affected have a disposition to have their perceptions altered. I understand some may consider that an arbitrary difference and an argument of semantics, but I feel it is a very important distinction to make. I find myself acutely aware of the difference between the fantastical world that pornography portrays, and the real world, and find my perceptions of real-world relationships unchanged. Like n0cturni said, I have two very distinctive standards (or perceptions) - one for porn, and the other for real relationships. These two standards never interact with each other, and remain completely independent spheres for me.
No porn is fantastic I have no idea what I would do without it.
No porn is fantastic I have no idea what I would do without it.
Become really good at drawing.
Nothing has changed my standards in women like Hollywood has. While I often base my erotic viewing on the whoever the most attractive woman is, I usually end up forgetting everything about their physical appearance after I climax. It's the celebrity starlets that I often find myself comparing women in real life to.

I am unlikely to "explode", whatever that means. Perhaps some masturbation and some porn would be good for me, but to have no qualification or statement of what a limit should be is ridiculous. I'm fucked up because of constant exposure to porn. A single perverse sexual desire makes up 99% of my sexual fantasies. Look at 4chan. That place is practically founded on porn. It is no surprise, then, that there is an abundance of fetishes: specifically, ones that come to mind are "trap" (this one is tremendously common), diaper, even bestiality.
Not bad, but it does change you in a way. Once you get access to the 'weird stuff', there is a chance your tastes start to change. That doesn´t have to be bad either.
Everything in moderation. Even porn.
Everything in moderation. Even porn.
Pretty much this. What really annoyed me about this forum when the TEDx speech came out, was that everyone glossed over it and went "oh masturbation and porn IS bad" without realizing the point of the TEDx presentation was addiction to masturbation and porn. You can drink alcohol occasionally, it's not a problem. When you start drinking it every night just to get to sleep or feel at peace, there's clearly a problem: you are addicted. Just because you use 4chan for porn doesn't mean everyone else does. HTH there are twice as many non-porn board on 4chan.
Don't know why I'm saying this but I've got separate standards when it comes to what I look for in porn and real life.
100% this. to be blunt, porn SHOULDN'T change your standards. even if you fap like more than 3 times a day to pornos, it really shouldn't. it might be a shock to people who don't get out much and are used to seeing the 'hot chikz' or 'hot guyz' in the vids they watch, but even then, it's just coming back to reality. and with OP's second point of
And when we find that scene, it's always a little harder to get turned on by a scene or picture that we find to be "average"
that's merely just a "I've seen something amazing, now I see something not as amazing, it's shit/not as good": people look at porn (hopefully) to fap to hot boys/girls, usually in that A-grade or whatever suits your tastes. if you see something that epitomises what you want to see, then you see something not as good, naturally you won't be as impressed. plus if you've fapped once and want to go at it again, you're not gonna really be in that zone as much
