The sister of the man accused of gunning down a Memphis police officer claims her brother "was defending himself." Tremaine Wilbourn, 29, was being held on $9 million bond on Tuesday on first-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting of Memphis cop Sean Bolton, 33, according to court documents. Wilbourn's sister, Callie Watkins, said her brother was acting in self-defense when he shot Bolton multiple times on Saturday night. "Tremaine ain't no bad person," Watkins said. "He was defending himself." "You know how they do, just trying to do you in," said Watkins, apparently referring to police.
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/sister-says-tremaine-wilbourn-suspect-killing-memphis-officer-acted-self-n403856
So many awful stereotypes there.
I don't think any violence against officers under any circumstance qualifies as self-defense.
That guy in the background though.
(shoots officer, hijacks a random car) He was defending himself. Yeah, OK.
I don't think any violence against officers under any circumstance qualifies as self-defense.
Not like there aren't any bad cops out there. I'd still defend myself and cops should be held to the same standards of the law. Not to mention the cops that get shot during no knock raids and the killer gets let off on self defense since there is no way to know who is kicking in your door. This guy however murdered the cop.
The moves on that guy are way more pleasant than that ugly fucking landwhale taking up the whole screen.
(shoots officer, hijacks a random car) He was defending himself. Yeah, OK.
hey man things happen, things happen
I don't think any violence against officers under any circumstance qualifies as self-defense.
What?
What?
Well maybe I am wrong. I don't know. I wouldn't be willing to test those waters myself.
Well maybe I am wrong. I don't know. I wouldn't be willing to test those waters myself.
you are wrong but it is true that its unwise to shoot a cop regardless of right or wrong [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] the long dick of the law [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] perhaps the longest dick there is
Well how would I know when it would be alright? Besides an unannounced entry as was written earlier.
when they're unlawfully attacking you
well its easy for the police to turn unlawfully to lawfully for them [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] you will never know if its legal for you to shoot cop [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] because long dick of the law™
He's a good boy, he din do nuffin etc. etc. Its sad that people are going to cling to this just because its stereotypical. The death of that officer is going to be swept completely under the table because this will somehow turn into a police brutality/racism shitstorm (User was banned for this post (""Dindunuffin" shitpost" - Big Dumb American))
The fact you can just pay to get away cop murder and don't have worry about it afterwards is insane, it should be non-bailable
I don't think you actually understand what bail is.
The fact you can just pay to get away cop murder and don't have worry about it afterwards is insane, it should be non-bailable
Bail means they won't hold you in jail for the duration of the trials, you still have to go to court and if found guilty you still will go to prison.
The fact you can just pay to get away cop murder and don't have worry about it afterwards is insane, it should be non-bailable
It's 9 million USD. Normally higher crimes are given high bail amounts, even though they have to only give 10% of the amount required for bail. So 10% of 9 million USD is $900,000. He isn't getting out of jail.
The fact you can just pay to get away cop murder and don't have worry about it afterwards is insane, it should be non-bailable
The point in bail is you pay them some money so you don't have to sit in jail then you get it back once you go to court. It's incentive to go to court. Like when you put a deposit on a rented bike or something that you get back when you bring the bike back to stop you from running off from it. Then if you're found guilty, you go straight into jail. I think you still get your money back though. It's a difficul system though cuz it means poor people who are innocent have to sit in a jail until they can prove their innocence in court, and rich people who are guilty are allowed out of jail until their court date.
To quote that comic about laws; there is no such thing as a chutzpah defense, lady.
That one officer has a bronze star, nice.
I really can't wait till this is autotuned.
"you know how they is, tryin'a rough you up" Yeah, Because they're trying to arrest you. You know, that thing where cops arrest people who break the law?
Sigh.. Jesus Christ..
I dunno. If he really defended himself he would've turned himself in I suppose. Also how and why would she know? Was she at the scene?
"You know how they do, just try to bring you in" I can't wait for the day that everyone else realizes how trashy this is.. I can't believe that the inbreds in this country REALLY BELIEVE in their heart that police officers just roll around all day looking to frame innocent black people and risk their entire career and reputation just to fuck with someone of a different race. It's like people are trying to insinuate that the academy teaches "Black hating 101" [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] Also innocent men who defend themselves definitely run away right afterwards and try to hide right
Pretty sure the bail is based on the crime and your personal wealth.
It's based on a lot more than that. Flight risk, showing of remorse, etc.
I don't think any violence against officers under any circumstance qualifies as self-defense.
Oh boy....
Bail is just a balance between the need for society to protect itself and your right to be free until you're actually found guilty of something. Technically right now he's not guilty of anything. If there's reason to think an accused person is a definite threat to public safety- high bail. If there's reason to think this person won't show up to face the charges- high bail. If there's reason to think the person will flee the country- high bail. Most people would consider an accused cop killer as a public danger and a risk to flee, so he's going to get high bail. If you were facing life in prison as a likely outcome of your trial why wouldn't you run for it if you could? Unless you didn't have the means or someplace to run to that is.
