Would I be able to replace my Sempron with this triple core(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103683)? And if so, how would I place it in my computer?
(paste in searchbar)
PC is Dimension E521 from 2005/2006
you would probably need a new motherboards as well then.

most likely
Would that be able to run RE5 on high with no AA enabled?
what is your ram and graphics card
2GB DDR2 and ATI Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3.
Would that be able to run RE5 on high with no AA enabled?
Graphics power is more important for running games. Now,it will help speed up some things.
Well it runs at 16.5 FPS for me currently on medium, windowed and at 800x600 so...
yes it is the cpu the 6000+ will do wonders
do i need a new mobo though for the X2?
the mobo can support a 5000+ so it should work with a 6000+ they are both am2
Good!

retail, it comes with a heatsink so you wont need to buy one

This one be good?
ya but i think you could get a 6000+
oh they dont have a 6000+ retail.
EDIT: if you want the 6000+ you need to buy a heatsink and some thermal paste as well.
I'll go with the one I posted in my previous post.
The 6000 is significantly better for $15 more.
The 6000 is significantly better for $15 more.
but requires him to buy more stuff. notice it says OEM.
and he can choose if he has enough money.
Yeah the 6000+ is better than the 5000+. Don't go for the 5000+ because it'll save you the trouble of putting thermal paste on the chip and putting another cooler on.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the processor is more important
Uh, I'm pretty sure the processor is more important
They are both important. The CPU can bottleneck your GPU. For example, if he put a 5870 in there, he probably wouldn't see much of an increase in performance. I have an 8600GT and I upgraded from a Celeron D to a Phenom II 720 and my FPS in games shot through the roof.
retail, it comes with a heatsink so you wont need to buy one
well he has aheatsink for his current cpu so he could reuse it
well he has aheatsink for his current cpu so he could reuse it
oh right, good point.
he'll still need to buy thermal paste.
Uh, I'm pretty sure the processor is more important
Ok, I'll play games with a i7 and a 6150. Everything should work fine correct?

He obviously meant in this situation :downs:
i7 Extreme, 5870
So I should get the OEM processor, and then just buy thermal paste, correct?
i7 Extreme, 5870
I don't have $500 to spare. Plus, I just got my 4670 last Christmas. :saddowns:

yeah. i just didnt know how much you had to spend.
Good. The thermal paste and 3.0 GHz processor seem like a reasonable price when bought together.
