OK so here's what happened,
My mate was telling me about how he knows a guy who made his iPod Touch have internet anywhere, send TxT messages, and do pretty much all the things that a iPhone can do (Except camera)
I was explaining to him this was impossible unless he took the iPod apart, he said that the guy didn't.
I still didnt believe him so he got it done to his iPod and is telling me that he didn't take it apart.
How the shit can he do that? Does anyone know?
tl;dr Mate has internet everywhere, can send txts messages, call people, but he has a iPod Touch, how the fuck does that work?
Nope, he sent me a text message in school from his iPod to my phone, and then refreshed a page on safari.
lies.
[editline]11:45PM[/editline]
it's not possible.
Hmmmh,
Are there any 3g dongles for the iPod cos he did refresh the safari page.
[editline]07:48AM[/editline]
He refreshed onto yahoo.co.uk, I mean unless his safari operates on cookies when off-line - Its cwazy!
not that I know of.
[editline]11:50PM[/editline]
I request video proof, until then I call bullshit on everything you're claiming.
I say hes cached it or something, Or maybe the "Not taking iPod apart" bit was a lie,
If the guy did take the iPod apart would it be possible?
:iiam:
make a damn video.
Some phones act as wireless hotspots for laptops don't they?
this is an iPod Touch.
this is an iPod Touch.
He's saying he might be ripping internet off my phone.
I doubt I can make a video soon, Next Monday would be the nearest I could get to making a video.

that's not possible with an iPod Touch.
Are you sure he isn't using a hidden access point within your school?
We have at least 50 long range hidden access points distributed around the campus. You can connect to any of them as long as you know the hidden SSID.

that is a possibility.
Im going to ask him today, off to school now.
is hi actual phone a windows mobile device? if so. not hard. all done over bluetooth.
he is using a wifi connection to make the calls and texts
end of discussion, its the only way the ipod touch can make contact with anything outside of its range
If you can see the WiFi logo on his iTouch, punch him in the face.
I saw someone on a train have this addon for his ipod that clicked into the bottom but I don't know what it was and call the damn thing an ipod or an ipod touch not an itouch there's no such device.

It's annoying when people say it in real life, but as a textual contraction it's perfectly alright.
The iPod can connect wirelessly to a network, and if you have an application such as Skype with a microphone, you can text / call people via that. I have that with my iPod.
he could be using local wifi for the interent but what isn't explained is how the hell he sent a text with an iPod Touch.
There are probably paid services to do so.
It is possible to add 3g to an ipod touch my friend done it, somehow.
It is possible to add 3g to an ipod touch my friend done it, somehow.
Nope. Totally different from WiFi.

There's tons of SMS apps for ipods...
There's tons of SMS apps for ipods...
I don't really follow apps so I didn't know.
for all you know he used an internet service to sms...
internet explainable by free public wifi? idk
Nope. Totally different from WiFi.
He took out the wifi adapter and swapped it with a 3g one and made a program to make it work, well so he says.
Ok I have exams next week so I wont have time to record a video of this.
He didn't have a WiFi symbol but he had a weird X like thing at the top.
Could his be some advanced data modifying from SSH blob's of a iPhone so that they are compatible with the iPod.
Once he has done that he can make it so that it operates off blue tooth or WiFi for Txt's and Internet.
tl;dr SSH Blob (iPhone) > Edited to: SSH Block (iPod) > Put onto iPod > Uses WiFi or bluetooth.
Oh and no WiFi symbols - This was on a bus going to cricket last time he showed me
Post a video. Or we all simultaneously press our hotdial for 'bullshit'
