Thanks!
I could try, but I usually end up making something generic...
Hey Garry,
Intro/Profile
I'm a professional web-designer when I'm not posting or being banned here, I also write PHP web-apps. I've been using HTML/CSS for 5 years now and PHP/MySQL for 3. I'm also a WordPress nut and know pretty much everything there is to know about it, and have customized many websites to use WordPress and extend its use to a full CMS. I'm 18, so not "young" in that sense, and run a good business with a nice flow of clients. I'd love to work for Facepunch though :)
I also know basic javascript, ajaxy stuff and moving things around a little. The one thing I've never used is vB, but I'm usually pretty quick to learn how software works and how to design for it, so it shouldn't be an issue.
Work Examples
http://kerplunc.com/ is our "company site", we also run a web hosting business. I did the html, css, design, contact form, etc etc. Featured on CSS Mania.
http://resourcepile.com/ is a little experiment, I built the blogging system, the design and everything about the site
http://justdevs.com/ is another example of my code over design, I wrote the forum script, and designed the site
http://pointlessramblings.com/ is my personal blog, with it's latest design. The previous design was featured on Smashing Magazine, Web Designer Wall and CSS Mania, and was extremely popular.
http://word-refinery.com/ is a small quick design I did for a client, although they have slightly ruined it with the content
http://simonfreedman.com/ is my latest design gig
http://winsaucestudios.com/ is my donation based mostly GMod community, although I'm working on a browser game (can show examples of that if needed). I've customized the forum software massively, including paypal IPN and PDT integrations.
Some others:
http://fanaticalhost.com/
http://superbytes.net/
http://yipo.org/ << all the code, serverside and html, again
Admittedly, it's a little thin on client work, because we've only started doing that in the past few months, due to a change of plans and aims. But I've got a tonne of design and code work under my belt, although a lot of it has been internal projects. I can probably find a load more stuff which either is no longer online or I've just missed out if needed!
So yeah, I hope that's enough. Thanks!
I've no idea what email this account uses, but if you want to get in touch, msn/email is nick@kerplunc.com, or @fizzadar

Web-design is kind of a rare skill.
(Because it requires good knowledge of coding and art)
Web-design is kind of a rare skill.
are you kidding?
the market for them is oversaturated
@Above two, both right.
It is saturated with crap cheap ass designers who give the industry a bad image. An excellent designer is quite rare, I hope I fall in the second category :P
Personally I can't do better, but I'd say you'd fall in a middle category, tilting over to the second one at times.
Still though, you're better then me.

I'd have to agree there, some sites work, some don't. I'm slowly tuning in my skills though :) It also depends which sites you look at, lots are more about the backend, and I've pretty much ignored the front-end design. Thanks anyway, you should still apply, nothing to loose!

I'm going to give it a shot.
Keep trying, you can only get better. :v:
So, uh, back on topic...

Garry, watch out!
He looks professional...
Too professional...
He is a trained assassin hired by the Russian Mob to infiltrate your home and murder you in your sleep.
Or he just makes good websites.
How much you payin up for this garry?
How much you payin up for this garry?
I think that would be discussed privatly with whatever applicant garry wants to hire.
Get Hexxeh in here, isn't he a big web coder?
Well, there's not a lot to say about me. I've been doing various things as web designer/developer since i was 12 or so. I have skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, (some) AJAX, SQL.
Some example work:
http://kameraflug-für-alle.de/ (Very recent, i'm responsible for the layout and technical administration. The content is not my deal at the moment, yet i'm heavily involved in this project)
http://die-betriebsberater-kg.de/web/ (About two years old website now. Everything but the CMS (Joomla, ugh) and the actual texts was made by me.)
http://fpv-community.com/ (Kinda recent, international sister site of our already very successful german FPV-Community, I had to make some ugly compromizes there because i'm working with a bunch of people that don't give a shit about design, That big thing with the "WIN" on the right hand side is actually a slideshow thing but we only have that one item at the moment - content isn't really my job here either)
There, if you want to see more, just ask.
Good luck finding somebody qualified! I don't know how it is in the UK, but you could get your pants sued off just by mentioning physical age in your qualifications for a job like this! Be careful!
My brother is working as a website designer now, this is what hes working on at the moment:
http://www.e1e10.com/
http://www.gonikeshoes.com/
He might be a bit busy in the coming month though. I think he would be interested though.

Ugh, looks meh. Especially the first one. Awful compression. I wouldn't want that, even for free.
Heh, he got payed a K for it though, so I think hes happy with it. :D
And PoliticalM, fanaticalhost looks very nice.

Looks great Fizz.
Good luck as always.
Well, I don't have much work to back me up, but I'll have a go at it.
Currently I'm a professional web developer in training. I'm on my third year in College and I've had multiple graphic design, programming and web development classes.
I know (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript, basic ASP, basic PHP and Actionscript. I also know a bit about database management and SQL.
I always try to make my code is W3C XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant. I have various design styles I can work with, such as clean and modern and dark and grungy.
I'm currently looking into Wordpress customization. I don't know much about it to be honest but I've been amazed by the stuff people are able to do with Wordpress and never knew it was so flexible. I'm always willing to learn new things.
Work
http://paulm.vndv.com/ - My current photography portfolio. Designed and Coded from scratch and styled using the 960 grid CSS framework

If you want some more more work examples, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail at paul.morel@gmail.com

That is one I just finished for a client but I see in the mean time he wrecked it =/
I can do php, template work, all that jazz. But I am 17...so I don't know what your standards are as far as age goes.

Yeah Hexxeh and Cosmic Duck did some stuff together. Maybe you could ask them?
And garry, what's really wrong with the website? I find it really cool and awesome as it is
I am very experienced in backend programming. I am not very good at designing. Will code for friendship with Garry!

I believe he is talking about Facepunch Studios, and things beyond this forum ;)
The first guy that posted is the best so far, coming from a graphic designer.
At times at this, I wish I had something to show. I'm a decent webdesigner but I don't have a portfolio or something.
I'm an aright web designer, my portfolio is currently under construction but I have a website available.
