Muslims clash with police after burning poppy in anti-Armistice Day protest
About 35 Islamic protesters, dressed in dark clothes and with many masking their faces, carried banners and chanted slogans such as "British soldiers: terrorists".
The group confronted police officers and briefly fought with them, leaving one officer with a head injury requiring hospital treatment, and three arrests were made.
Around 50 counter demonstrators from the far-right English Defence League gathered nearby but officers kept the two sides apart.
The protesters said they were from a group called Muslims Against Crusades.
They gathered near Hyde Park in London before burning a model of a poppy on the stroke of 11am then marching along Exhibition Road and along an underpass, past the Victoria and Albert and Natural History Museums.
Asad Ullah, 23, a spokesman for the group who would only say he was from London, said: "The British soldiers you remember on this day are soldiers who have taken innocent lives in illegal occupations and unjust wars.
"Our aim is not violence but if people come to us with violence, Muslims will defend themselves."
He added: "We will do this again. Until the British people condemn the British Government for these illegal wars, we will not stop protesting."
Posters bore slogans including "Hands off Muslim lands" and "Islam will dominate", and flags bore Arabic writing with the words "There is no God but Allah".
The group went to South Kensington Tube station, roughly circled by about 20 police officers as they were from the start of the march, and rode it to Whitechapel, in east London, where the organisers collected the flags and high-visibility vests some were wearing and the group dispersed.
One of the passengers on the Tube was Sylvia Black, 61, a retired sub-postmistress from Yeovil, Somerset.
She was wearing a poppy in memory of her uncle, a corporal who was killed in the First World War.
Mrs Black said: "I disagree with what they're doing. They shouldn't be doing it and they shouldn't be allowed to do it."
Of the three arrests made, two were for public order offences and one was for assaulting a police officer.
The Muslims Against Crusades website includes graphic images of children wounded in warfare and the torture of detainees at Abu Ghraib.
Earlier this year members were involved in violent clashes with far-right groups during a troop march in Barking, east London.
There are suspicions Muslims Against Crusades is a splinter group of Islam4UK, founded by Anjem Choudary, a British Muslim extremist formerly a senior figure in the now banned Al-Muhajiroun and Islam4UK groups.
what the fuck really. if you're gonna live in this country, at least respect the people who died for it. it's stupid that these protests are even allowed to be held. muslims wonder why everybody hates them, this is the reason you ignorant bastards.

I don't know how you could not respect Armistice Day, it doesn't make any sense.
Ungrateful pricks.
I find it disgusting that they shit all over our culture and our freedom of speech by protesting like this, often showing huge disrespect, when if there was to be a group of English people burning Qu'rans or defacing mohammed they would have a hissy fit. Also it's horribly ironic that the freedom of speech that they disgrace so disrespectfully wouldn't even exist if Sharia was in place.
Let's take a look at equality and freedom of speech in the middle east and Islamic parts of Africa. Oh wait. There isn't any. You have to be a Muslim to even be allowed to enter Mecca. If there's one religion I dislike above all others, it's Islam. Christianity may be stupid, but generally Islam holds the most hypocrites and extremists.
Not that I'm saying that there's anything wrong with every Muslim. I'm sure that a vast percentage of them are fine people. But the religion itself is far too politically contradictive with western values to fully peacefully co-exist with western civilisation IMO. Sure, it's the followers that choose to make these problems, but it doesn't help that the book itself leans towards it more than others.

Even if I agree with the rest of the post this part is wrong. It is good that British soldiers died to give them the rights to demonstrate like this, because if they wouldn't be allowed to demonstrate then the British soldiers would have died for nothing.
God this makes me rage so hard, why don't the rest of the islamic community make a bigger stand against this ridiculous bullshit?
What a bunch of assholes
They just come here for the benefits. Perhaps we should stop printing visa applications in Arabic.
When you're in a country on its sacred day of rememberance, charging around and desecrating a symbol of said rememberance doesn't exactly put you across as good people in the 'right'.
If they can't respect this country and those who fought for it; then they can get out.
This isn't helping them.

The thing is though that in the time of those soliders life, if something like this were to happen in England the protestors would get the absolute shit kicked out of them. Things are getting too pussy-ish.
Arseholes.
They wouldn't like it if we burned Qur'ans, so why are they burning poppies?
There was also a Muslim in my work today that carried on working through the silence after the announcement when everyone else was standing still, what's with them?
Well of course they'd protest it, they're arabs living in Britain - of course they'd be against invasions against their land. You can convince Muslims do to anything with Sura, they're that thick.

They just don't consider themselves British.

Their land?
I think you mean Afghani land.

To be honest: if you're not going to respect the values of the country you're in, why are you in that country?
To be honest: if you're not going to respect the values of the country you're in, why are you in that country?
To be honest: They have a right not to respect the values of said country. They're not doing anything illegal.
But their "Holy War", as detailed in the Qur'an, to convert every country to islam (or kill them if they refuse) is totally justified?
Islam is pretty much the religion of hypocrisy.
The same thing is in the Bible.

Islam isn't a race :downs:
And does anyone even know why they're calling British soldiers terrorists? Do you even know what they did to the Middle East after WW1 and WW2? The British and the Americans are the ones to blame for the current problems in the Middle East.
To be honest: if you're not going to respect the values of the country you're in, why are you in that country?
Assimilating and protesting for positive change in your country, ie. the end of a war are two different things.
Wow, just wow, I live in Birmingham, and there is a tremendously large Muslim community here. If any of them did that, I would have to say: get the fuck out of the country, you ungrateful pricks. They have every right to be here and be a part of this country, but if they're just going to insult what we believe when we don't do it to them, they can go fuck themselves.

most people associate islam w/ "those middle eastern people"
