DALLAS — Health officials are closely monitoring a possible second Ebola patient who had close contact with the first person to be diagnosed in the U.S., the director of Dallas County's health department said Wednesday. All who have been in close contact with the man diagnosed are being monitored as a precaution, Zachary Thompson, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, said in a morning interview with WFAA-TV. "Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: The fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient," he said. "So this is real. There should be a concern, but it's contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment." The director continued to assure residents that the public isn't at risk because health officials have the virus contained.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/01/texas-ebola-patient/16525649/
Why, one was bad enough, please help.
Be a good ebola and please don't mutate into an airborne version. Is that even possible? I hope not

Is this the part where Madagascar closes their borders?

Sounds like they're just watching the people he's been around as a precaution. Which is a totally acceptable thing to do.
Who was that member who said they were about as far away from Ebola as possible because they live in Oklahoma. Heh.

Ok Texas, you're allowed to secede now.
And now we will see how much more effective modern medicine and quarantine techniques are at containing nasty bugs!
We at Facepunch will be prepared for that scenario.
Shit I tossed my gas masks years ago.
Be a good ebola and please don't mutate into an airborne version. Is that even possible? I hope not
Surely with ebola burning through the victim so quickly there's not really much chance of it mutating.
I guarantee you this won't develop into anything.
Shit I tossed my gas masks years ago.
I still have mine. It has a little rip in the top of the rubber at the back of the head, but I don't think ebola can get through there.
Be a good ebola and please don't mutate into an airborne version. Is that even possible? I hope not
It actually is possible for an airborne strain to develop. In the book "The Hot Zone", they talked about Ebola and in a research lab with monkeys, the monkeys caught Ebola in one ward and they euthanized ALL the monkeys in that ward, but somehow the virus went airborne and traveled to a second ward with even more monkeys in it. They had to euthanize all the monkeys in that ward as well.
My shrine to Ebloa-chan is in progress
I drove past the hospital where the first patient is being held at today on my way to campus. It's currently the trending topic around the city right now, but nobody is really worried.
A past thread people were talking about evacuating Dallas. Even if that would be impossible to do with the amount of people there, would you really want to spread out potential ground zero people infected with Ebola into other towns?
airbourne ebola would be some srs fucking shit
airbourne ebola would be some srs fucking shit
I just hope there isn't some guy playing pandemic with this.
ronpaulhappening.gif Seriously though, this is being blown up way bigger than it really is.

That could only spread the disease further, resulting in an outbreak. Best thing to do is close all entrances and exits to the area. The death of an entire city's population is nothing compared to the death of an entire nation.
