Selfies of the Damned: Woman Claims Dead Grandmother Tried to Contact Her Through Selfie

Superstitious Romanians have been packing out local churches after a local woman claimed the ghost of her dead grandmother had taken over her mobile phone and used it to send a "selfie" from the other side.
Petrified Gina Mihai, 34, said: "When I switched the phone on I was horrified to see my dead grandmother's face. She had what looked like a snake around her neck, and the whole image looked as if it had been taken through a hole, like it was shot through a tear in the fabric that separates the living from the dead.
"I took it to a fortune teller who told me that my grandmother was sending me a message from the other side, the snake around her neck was a symbol of the fact that she was being punished in the other life for some sin. By contacting us she was telling us that if we were to pray for her, we would still be able to save her soul."
But now not just Gina and her family had been spending overtime in the local church in Scurtesti in south eastern Romania, but also dozens of other families terrified about the implications of a snake wrapped ghost sending a message from the other side.
Gina said: "My grandmother died three years ago and I haven't taken any food for her to the graveyard. I was making doughnuts at the time and didn't want to get the phone dirty so I put it in my pocket, and when I took it out there was the image on the phone. The fortune teller told me that was a mistake not to have paid tribute to her with an offering of food, and it was significant that she contacted me while I was cooking. I have taken doughnuts to the cemetery every day since then."

The picture in question:

long exposures in lowlight are now messages from ghosts
It looks as if she absentmindedly hit the 'take picture' button while moving the phone away from her face and shoving it in her pocket. If it is an older or just a plain shitty cell-phone, it probably took a long-exposure shot due to the indoor lighting.
However, it is proof against the notion that technology will eventually end foolish superstition.

Damn you and your succinct phrasing!
I'm astounded that so many people believe in ghosts, yet only a tiny fraction of them choose to call the ghost busters whenever they're harassed by them.
Keep 555-2368 on your speed dial, it might just save your life.
Punishment? Looks like she's smiling to me.

Will this become the next Botched Restoration painting?

Jesus christ where do they come up with this stuff?
Now because of that fortune teller, she will worry for the rest of her life if the donuts and prayers were enough to save her grandmothers snake tortured soul.

I bet the wildlife love her.

lmfao
Isn't this almost exactly what happened in White Noise?
Can't we just shoot all the dumb people already?
(Let's start with me :v:)
That's harsh. The upside of a relative dying is you no longer have to do anything for them, and then this.
The fortune teller will have a free donut everyday for the rest of their life
Sort of reminds me of a cross between Sir Dan, Joe Camel and Mr Burns.

Wait a fucking second

my mom still goes out hunting for 'orbs' with her digital camera. Trick is, it only works if you take a photo with the flash in complete darkness, aka "you get a black picture with super overexposed out of focus dust specks and terrible color noise that might have some sort of face-like blotch somewhere in your giant photo"

For what its worth, I may have seen a so-called orb in the nearby cemetery once when I slept there on a dare. It resolved into a human figure which walked up to a nearby tomb and disappeared into it.
Ukelele guy... Ukelele guy... Ukelele guy...
Selfies of the damned you say?
Well ladies and gentlemen, I think we found our blockbuster movie for 2015. :v:

I once saw a orb which looked suspiciously like a small spirit bomb float through the window and into the wall socket.
No one believes me and it makes it worse that my camera was conveniently out of battery at the time. Oh well.
