Speaking as a guest on CNBC, Baron said he thinks the value of his Tesla investment will quadruple by the end of the decade.
Looking beyond 2020, the 74-year-old investor thinks his position in Tesla will increase 30-fold in his lifetime. In other words, Baron thinks Tesla's stock can rise 30 times from his $210 cost, which implies an ultimate price target of $6,300.

Interview only happened a short time ago so no proper source from CNBC yet.
This would give Tesla a higher value than the "big three" combined by the end of the decade. They are already within $5bn of Ford.
And i have complete faith in Elon Musk to make or exceed those targets. The quicker EV's overtake the market, the better
Here's hoping they diversify from Crossovers and Sedans.
An inexpensive, fun EV sub-compact hatchback within the 15k price range would be welcome, I don't trust the Bolt to be exciting.
When there's not a very bold caption saying "the above person has no investments in X company or affiliated/related markets" or whatever, you can immediately disregard things like this as hyped up, baseless opinion pieces.
As much as I love Tesla and Musk, the price of the stock already reflects a lot of "hopes and dreams." It's like the young college students I see dumping money into Amazon right now (and not 5 years ago) because "it has to keep getting bigger!!" That said, there are definitely worse investments to make right now.

This guy has made a very successful career out of holding stocks for the long term. I wouldn't dismiss it as baseless stock pumping because he owns the stock.

Pickup and semi trucks are the next area they will branch out into, and after that we will probably get a coupe.
I don't know about quadruple since others will have to follow the market trend and develop their own EVs, but I can see them being the top dogs easily for a while, and definitely being an automotive titan. I can see double and triple very easily though. It makes sense and Ron Baron is no fool to ignore tbh.
Sure wish I had a few thousand sitting around you know

Fuck that they should move on to trucks next.
I know they have one still in the planning phases but enough cars, just take the model 3 when its in production and give it a hatchback option. Prices for EV/Hybrid cars will be dropping in the near future, prices are already starting to drop with demand going up.
After they come out with a pickup they can use the same platform for a van model to appeal more to companies with fleets.
The Ford E-Series dominated the fleet van market since 1980, Elon wants a pickup to appeal to the large pickup demographic in the states and appealing to company fleets will be the next step after that.

How are electric vehicles when it comes to towing capacity? It seems like it would really affect their range.
Curious to see them make a HD truck that can compete with Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstrokes on all fronts.
If they can win over contractors with those, it's a very lucrative market.

You really shouldn't even make investments right now. The stock market is way, way too high and is way way too unstable currently.

This guy used his Model X to tow a combined weight of 4,850lbs with his boat and trailer, and had a range drop of 60%. The X can get 295 miles of range, but seeing how its a crossover I imagine range would be better on a actual pickup designed around towing. http://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-x-range-impact-towing/
The Model X also actually weighs slightly more than a 2017 F-150. The X having a curb weight of 5,441 and a 2017 F-Series Crew Cab ranging from 4,497 to 5,238. A Super Cab config is a little less.
Don't forget all the tech the X also has, which probably makes up quite a bit of the weight.
