WASHINGTON—The death this week of former White House Press Secretary James Brady, who survived a gunshot wound to the head in a 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, has been ruled a homicide by a medical examiner, District of Columbia police said Friday. John Hinckley Jr. shot Mr. Brady, who never regained normal use of his limbs and was often in a wheelchair. His family said he died Monday at age 73 from a series of health issues.
http://online.wsj.com/articles/death-of-reagan-aide-james-brady-ruled-a-homicide-1407536409?mod=_newsreel_3 Isn't there a statutory limit to how long you can rule a death a homicide after they were attacked?
since WSJ is paywalled here's NYT
The ruling could allow prosecutors in Washington, where Reagan and Mr. Brady were shot on March 30, 1981, by John W. Hinckley Jr., to reopen the case and charge Mr. Hinckley with murder. The United States attorney’s office said Friday that it was “reviewing the ruling on the death of Mr. Brady” and had no further comment. ... There is no statute of limitations on murder charges, but any attempt to retry Mr. Hinckley would be a challenge for prosecutors, in part because he was ruled insane, said Hugh Keefe, a Connecticut defense lawyer who taught trial advocacy at Yale University. ah, too bad i'm out of mine it looks like the prosecutors who could handle will probably have their work cut out for them. if they deem they have a case that is, then again he is supposedly in a funny farm for the insanity defense so will a prison psych ward be much different?
For a minute there I thought someone murdered James Brady... I mean the guy can't be that unlucky, this is just excessive though he died of natural causes, hinkly attempted to kill him 30 years ago, besides confining him to a wheelchair he didn't really have anything to do with his death now

this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
IIRC, there was an American Civil War vet who died in like 1903 and was ruled to have "died of his wounds from battle" despite living to old age. This doesn't surprise me.
this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
if there is reasonable evidence that the stroke was caused by the strangulation
this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
This is more like you get shot at the age of 20 and 40 years later you die from an injury caused by being shot.
this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
I think you mean prosecuted.
Isn't there a statutory limit to how long you can rule a death a homicide after they were attacked?
The old year and a day rule has been abrogated in many jurisdictions. So not really. But such a ruling makes no sense. The person was found to be "insane", so they can't convict him of murder anyway.
this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
"Persecuted?" Really? Come on, man. The word is "prostituted."
That bullet sure took its sweet goddamn time.
That bullet sure took its sweet goddamn time.
I guess this is what happens when you try to use bullet time after swallowing that many painkillers
this is retarded lol someone attempted to strangle me me once when I was 8, when I die at 80 from a stroke I want him persecuted.
There is a difference between your imagined situation and being shot. Being shot (or injured in another life altering way, like being mauled) does massive and sometimes irreversible damage to your body. The medical examiners who went over James Brady's body aren't idiots. If it is clear that the injuries Brady took from A BULLET PASSING THROUGH HIS HEAD lead to his death, even if that death took place later, then the man who fired the gun and SENT A BULLET THROUGH HIS HEAD caused that death.
Murder and Arson are the only crimes without a statute of limitations.
Man dies of old age, mother charged with homicide.
Man dies of old age, mother charged with homicide.
Right, being shot in the head is nothing, there's absolutely no lifelong complications that could arise from it. If they're going on the record as saying it's a murder, than I'm willing to imagine that they have atleast some evidence corroborating the connection.
Man dies of old age, mother charged with homicide.
Man dies of bullet wound, attacker charged with homicide.
