“Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers” to become live-action feature film for Disney
Chip ‘n’ Dale, Disney’s classic cartoon chipmunk duo, is being revived with the goal of becoming a big-screen feature.
The studio has picked up a pitch from Robert Rugan, an award-winning commercials director, who is writing an updated take on the characters in what is being envisioned as a live-action/CG hybrid.
Mandeville Films/TV, the Disney-based production shingle run by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman that is also behind the studio’s Muppets franchise, is producing.
Chip ‘n’ Dale first appeared in a 1943 animated short starring Pluto, and went on to appear in 22 reels stretching into the mid-1950s where the duo either annoyed Mickey’s faithful four-legged friend or squared off against Donald Duck.
They popped up in various Disney cartoons and comics but got a makeover in in 1989 with Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers. The show saw Chip, the brains behind the pair, and Dale, the goofball, running a detective agency and helping animal clients. Disney made three seasons' worth of shows that then ran in syndication for the next decade on The Disney Channel.
It is from Rescue Rangers that the new project would spring as it tells an origin story of sorts.
Mandeville's Alexander Young is overseeing for the shingle and will exec produce.
I hope they do this justice, since this was one of my favorite shows as a kid.
Hopefully since it is being done by the same studio as the one that did the latest Muppets movies, it won't suck.
Also, for those who don't know what it is:

"live action"
ruined.

It is being done by the same studio that did the last Muppets movie, which was good, so I am not going to write it off as ruined yet.
I thought of Chip n Dale, a male strip club by me. I was worried.
I thought of Chip n Dale, a male strip club by me. I was worried.
Its the name of EVERY male strip club.
They're named Chip and Chap here, I think I saw every episode at least 3 times as a kid
My heart just sunk a little bit. :(
Man, that Russian cult's going to get REALLY mad.
If it's anything like this

Then no.
let's just hope that this doesn't revive the rangerphile fandom :v:
I can't wait to focus on a human character and probably his love interest for 90% of the movie.

Here's your answer.
Sounds pretty cool, hopefully they can get some dope voice actors. I'm holding out for Ice Cube or Seth Rogen.
why?.....
i mean besides cash, are they that worried because pixar isn't working on right now that theyd release a ton of crap next year just in case

Well, I wasn't up to date on male strip clubs, sorry. I guess they're not local.

Nah nah nah, what it is, you see, is that they release a bunch of shit movies between each Pixar movie so Pixar's movie looks fucking amazing and people think it is great because it was better than all these shit movies.
Its the name of EVERY male strip club.
That or they're named after Peter Pan.

Holy shit they look like absolute cunts. I want to punch them so much.
I loved this cartoon series as a kid, I still hum the intro tune to myself after all these years, and I'm 20 now. I hope they create a decent homage.
An award-winning commercials director?
Christ they are really scrapping the barrel with this one.
I may be tempting fate here but...
Disney don't you fucking dare to do that to Duck Tales.
what about Ironicus
call the police! this is down right murder!

Chip and Dale are tiny squirrels, that look like squirrels. It wouldn't look too weird in a live action movie. Scrooge McDuck is a giant duck with weirdly proportioned features. It would be so uncanny. I think Disney realizes that.

Come on, Demolition Man was made by a commercial director and it was brilliant.

It's been attempted before, but We don't want another Howard The Duck movie.
Welp, bad-films-inspired-by-cartoony-stuff-this-year count has increased to 3.
Looks like it's gonna be a bad year for these kinds of movies.

I'm actually really wondering if this isn't part of their marketing plan.
MLP probably had a massive profit boost after a fandom of adults (with a lot more money to spend than kids and no parents behind them to limit the amount of shit they buy), and I'm legitimately surprised there hasn't been more companies trying to cash in on the whole "creepy people in their mid 30s watching cartoons for young kids" thing. From a purely financial standpoint it's a gold mine.
My childhood is worried
