In addition to its StarVR headset announcement tonight, Starbreeze has announced that it is bringing its popular Payday series to mobile devices. The developer is partnering with Cmune to bring the game to new platforms.
Starbreeze didn't share many details about the game, but it says it plans to include competitive options. As part of this collaboration, Starbreeze has made a $1 million investment in Cmune.
No release window has yet been discussed. Payday 2 arrives on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 16
how will this even work
will it be one of those dumb mafia war type things or a terrible attempt at a mobile fps

best case scenario is they make it control like NOVA with Payday gameplay
It better be an infinite runner where you just throw bags actoss the screen.
Infinite bags. An infinite bagger-er.
This is bizarre. I don't know what to expect, but apparently stuff like KotOR has been ported amazingly well, so, who the fuck knows.
A straight FPS port or something would suck. I don't want a gimped version of the PC or console game, I would have no reason to play that.
I think it would have to be a different kind of game to work. A while back I suggested Payday: The Escape. You play as Twitch, their getaway driver, and maybe it can be like an arcade racer or an infinite runner or something. You could upgrade your van the more you play. Something like that would be neat.

Watch it be a cookie clicker clone like all the cool kids are doing.

Something like this?
Call of Duty clone

Or this TF2 clone?

I've played all of these a whole lot and a PayDay style game as a fps game on mobile would be fun.
It better be you acting like Bain telling others to grab the thermal drill.

An app like Commander for BF4, which allows you to join other peoples' games in progress as a 5th player. You have an overhead view of the level and a sound board with Bain's lines on them.
"You started the thermal drill! It will be finished in two weeks, but you can open the vault right now for $1.99!"
FPS on mobile devices can work really well as long as the controls are nailed
"You started the thermal drill! It will be finished in two weeks, but you can open the vault right now for $1.99!"
It'll be just like owning a Tamagotchi, waking you up at 2am to reset the fucking thing
Its a game where all you do is try to keep the drill from FUCKING BREAKING FOR THE MILLIONTH FUCKING TIME.

The real purpose here is to rob the consumers. Brillaint strategy, best heist in years.
Mobile games are not the answer
I would like a top down shooter, that would be fun, and I feel like it works better than a FPS on mobile
