• Sony Tries To Convince The World Why "The Emoji Movie" Is Still A Good Idea At CinemaCon
Apparently the pitch is kind of a knock-off combination of Wreck-It Ralph and Inside Out. Yes, the emojis inside your phone come to life and live in their own secret world inside your phone’s text application. We were shown concept art of a grid spaced suburban neighborhood that is their home, Emoji Valley. The heroes in this story must leave the safety of their home and go to the world of the wallpaper, basically the phone’s desktop. In the world of the wallpaper, all the app icons exist as massive floating cubes, each containing their own world. We were shown concept art of the hero emoji characters taking a boat trip in a music app. The concept art didn’t look too promising. Sony revealed they are partnering with many popular apps (let me guess, Angry Birds will make a crossover appearance?) that will be featured in the movie. I imagine this will be something like what they did with Pixels last year. Spotify is rumored to be one of the apps. The only other thing we were told is that the movie is about the power of self expression, and that the tagline for the film will be “express yourself.” The Emoji Movie is currently scheduled for release on August 11, 2017.
/Film
just keeping it a normal 'coming to life' movie without branding the fuck out of it with the 'THEY'RE EMOJIS!!' garbage would make me more inclined to give it a chance
💩👎🏻 Where do they pull these ideas from? The fevered dreams of a coke addict?
If this Emoji 👌 isn't the lead star in the film it isn't worth seeing.
I had a hard time believing someone actually heard a pitch for an emoji movie and said "yes this is a great idea", but that line about featuring popular apps in the movie suddenly makes it all make sense. This shits gonna be loaded with advertisements lol. I looked it up and this shit's being directed/written by the guy that made that supposedly mediocre Igor movie nobody ever saw, and direct-to-dvd sequels to Kung Fu Panda and Lilo and Stitch. Yeah this is totally gonna work, riiiight
Apparently the pitch is kind of a knock-off combination of Wreck-It Ralph and Inside Out.
I didn't see Wreck it Ralph or Inside Out, but as far as I know Wreck It Ralph was good because the message had something to do with "bad guys can become good" and Inside Out was good because the plot was about depression. Both of these plots/messages were good plots/messages and were relevant to the gimmick of the movie. I can't imagine what the plot to a movie about emojis could be about. The dangers of miscommunication? How you should express yourself more?
They would defo have done a rage comics movie back when they were hip, if not for the murky legal status of all dem memes
Maybe if he can make good things bad, he can make a bad idea good?
He will execute a bad idea so poorly that there will be a black hole of terrible besmirching every other movie's reputation for the remainder of 2016.
This movie was never a good idea, but the fact that they still think an movie about Emojis is still good is really stupid.
How do people pitch these ideas to them anyways?

Director claims "It's part of the movie, phone advertisements are part of the phone too!"
If you have to convince people its a good idea for a movie, it probably isn't.
How do people pitch these ideas to them anyways?
Got no fucking idea. http://deadline.com/2015/07/emoji-movie-sony-pictures-animation-anthony-leondis-kung-fu-panda-secrets-of-the-masters-1201482768/ But Sony going "Now that's literally a million dollar idea" and Paramount and Warner Bros throwing the idea around too is the biggest joke ever.
Can't wait for the sex scene: or the deadly terrorist attack scene, after which nothing is the same
fuck emojis
This is coming from the studios ran by the people who used twitter grammar and smileys in professional e-mails. Of course they're going to make an emoji movie.
This is what happens when you let people with pie charts and line graphs come up with film ideas.
Apparently the pitch is kind of a knock-off combination of Wreck-It Ralph and Inside Out.
I'm expecting less of Wreck-it Ralph or Inside Out and more Food Fight.
I'm expecting less of Wreck-it Ralph or Inside Out and more Food Fight.
Heck, more like Chef by Jon Favreau.
Supposedly mediocre Igor movie nobody ever saw
I saw it. It was ok.
The mere thought of this is actually pretty depressing
Heck, more like Chef by Jon Favreau.
hmmmm, Ch!ef is just an anagram for Chef! get outta here, jon favreau shill. we see through your phony disguise
Christ, who cuts checks to Sony entertainment for this stuff, you would think with pixels being hot smiley poop they'd learn not to make a movie about smiley poop
😂😂😂...please no.
sony needs to stop making movies entirely
sony needs to stop making movies entirely
You're right. We need North Korea ASAP.
It's been obvious that Sony's film division has been terribly mishandled since the shit that came out during the email leak with the the discussions between their execs. In fact every time I hear about anything relating to their film division I feel that I come a little closer to the conclusion that the entire show is run by a mass of insects in a sack cloth human suit thats understanding of the English language is expanded little beyond simple mimicry and popular buzzwords like "emoji" "DMCA" or "cinematic universe"
