I plan on saving up some money to buy the following parts and build a computer. Please review it and tell me if you think there's something else I should get instead of any of these: CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield Updated MoBo: ASUS P7P55D Pro Updated GFX Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) Updated Case: Antec Nine Twelve Hundred Black Steel (Full Tower) Updated Power Supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX In need of advice Total, buying everything from Newegg.com, it will cost approximately $1,230 not including shipping.
Overkill on PSU. Don't get the GTX 295. Get the 5870. I would recommend getting the phenom II 955 instead of thge 965 it is like 50$ cheaper and almost no performance lose. Also you could look at a core i5 option.
i5 and 5870
I'd prefer not to get an Intel chip, so I'm gonna stick with the 965. If money gets tight I'll get the 955 instead. As for the GFX card, what makes the 5870 better than the GTX 295?

Don't be a fanboy.
Okay, I'm sold on the 5870. I did some research and apparently this GPU is a fucking beast. But I still don't know about this PSU. Is 650W good enough? Also, what's better about that case? And my last question is, what about the motherboard? Is it a good one for my set-up? [editline]04:00AM[/editline] How does an i5 compare to an i7 and that Phenom II 965? Can you recommend the best motherboard that money can buy for an i5? [editline]05:31AM[/editline] Ok I'm definitely getting an i5, and I'm definitely getting a Sapphire 5870. I was thinking about that ASUS P55 Deluxe motherboard, but I need advice on that. I also desperately need advice on a PSU and case.
The PSU you have in the OP is more than adequate, can't comment on the case.
965 was amazing until i5 came along.
Hey, i'm basically wanting to build roughly the same as you. (Check out my other thread). I opted for the Asus P7P55d PRO instead of the rest. Basically because it has enough features for my liking, the price is nice etc. I felt no need to buy anything more than that. If i were you, go the the PRO rather than the deluxe mobo. It'll save you some cash. I'll probably be buying the 5870 and the i5 aswell.
so your budget is 1200?
