• GFX Card Overclocking EMERGENCY!

PN. I copied this from the Tech Support Sub-Threat because noone goes there anymore, and I'm having a serious emergency, and need help, NOW! Good god! I overclocked my card while playing Just Cause 2 and I forgot to un-clock it when I was done, and so far it's been oc'd for over 46 hours and the screen is starting to flicker and things are getting slow, I tried opening ATi Catlyst to un-clock it and I get what I call a "Rainbow Screen Of Death" Random colors everywhere with lines through them. So I need a way to unclock it without opening ATi Catlyst at all! I have an HD 5750, and I feel like my computer isn't going to last much longer. Help Fast! Joannou1 EDIT: Blue Screen'd... Need help now!
Safe mode? Unclock from BIOS? Reinstall drivers in Safe Mode?
This is why I don't bother overclocking GPUs; the gains are too small and the risks too great. :colbert: Have you tried booting into safe mode?
Somehow I managed to open CCC and tune it down without it blowing up my computer, thanks for the help! -snip-

I OC'd my 8800 GTS and it now runs Just Cause 2 smoothly on decent settings (admittedly at 90 degrees or so...). Free lunch, considering I paid a tenner for the card!

If you OC your card using ATI Overdrive, it only applies custom clocks when the card is running 3d. When DirectX or OpenGL shuts down, it stops overclocking to save on power and not let the card fry. Did you leave the game engine running for two days or something?
