Make no mistake about it. Joe Biden was definitely running.
He's not yet launched a bid for president, but Biden sent a well-timed signal of exuberance and political vitality on Monday, leaving reporters and Secret Service agents in his wake as he jogged through adoring crowds on Labor Day in Pittsburgh.
The old Joe was back. And the crowd was cheering "Run, Joe, run!"
Beaming, and looking more joyful in public than at any time since the tragic death of his son Beau in May, the 72-year-old's energetic trek through streets lined with well wishers, who seemed delighted to see him, did nothing to quell speculation that he may jump into the Democratic presidential race.
And if his decision turns on his rapturous reception in the gritty Western Pennsylvania city, which is a bulwark of organized labor, there will be only one answer.
The question on everyone's lips was "Will Joe Run?"
"I am gonna run part of the parade," Biden told CNN's Brianna Keilar. "I feel like I am home right now," he said, deflecting questions about whether he would indeed jump into the race to challenge Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination.
When young local business owner Chris Fuget asked whether he would announce a 2016 run, the Vice President reached into the crowd to shake his hand and momentarily hesitated before answering: "I haven't made that decision yet."
Then, asked by a reporter what he made of the overwhelming reception on an unseasonably warm morning, Biden answered: "It's home."
Later, Biden gently teased a group of steelworkers, saying the press would portray his visit to Pittsburgh as a sign he was "competing with Bernie Sanders, who is doing a helluva job by the way."
When a man yelled out he should run for the White House, Biden replied : "You gotta talk to my wife about that." Biden's wife Jill, is reportedly wary about the prospect of another Biden presidential campaign.
Wearing a white polo shirt, and looking fit and trim, Biden had earlier repeatedly flitted from side to side of the downtown streets clogged with union workers, floats, and the thunderous brass of marching bands.
Hopefully the "humor" tag will make you guys realize the sensationalism taken from CNN's title :v:
How fast?
so biden is obamas third term. seems to me the only democratic candidate i would elect be sanders
How fast?
not quickly, he's biding his time
What's the consensus in the US on Joe Biden? Is he a reasonable candidate for being president?
What's the consensus in the US on Joe Biden? Is he a reasonable candidate for being president?
He'd be a hilarious grandfather but I don't know if I'd trust him to run the country.
What's the consensus in the US on Joe Biden? Is he a reasonable candidate for being president?
Same boat as W. Good guy, would like to have him as a goofy uncle/grandpa, most likely a bad president.
I hope he doesn't run and I don't think he will but I find it hilarious that people who dislike Hillary think Biden is some kind of an alternative to her. If you don't like Hillary for her voting record then you will definitely not like Joe.
Not the worst guy to run but far from one of the best
Diamond Biden my man
Maybe he'll split Hillarys vote improving Bernie's chances...
Doesn't work like that in primaries
I hope he doesn't run and I don't think he will but I find it hilarious that people who dislike Hillary think Biden is some kind of an alternative to her. If you don't like Hillary for her voting record then you will definitely not like Joe.
I was watching "Face The State" here in Connecticut (which is like Face the Nation on CBS, but only about more local politics generally), and the state democrats only talked about Hilary and Biden; as if Sanders doesn't even exist.
Isn't he the guy who became known in some circles as "Groper Cleveland"?

Sanders isn't a Democrat
Sanders isn't a Democrat
He's running under the Democratic nomination so he's a Democrat.
He's running under the Democratic nomination so he's a Democrat.
But he's not a Democrat party member he only caucuses with them, so why should state Democrat party members be obliged to discuss a non-party member.
It's because Sanders' popularity runs just shy of entirely online. It takes no time to say who you like on the internet, but few of those vocal posters will actually go to the polls and vote for him, so it's irrelevant.
But he's not a Democrat party member he only caucuses with them, so why should state Democrat party members be obliged to discuss a non-party member.
Because he technically still has a shot of beating Hillary.
Because he technically still has a shot of beating Hillary.
Well technically all of the Republicans have a shot at beating Hillary, I'm assuming they were discussing candidates actually from the Democrat party.
I like Biden a lot more than Hillary, but I just don't see how he could grab enough support from an already strong Hillary, despite the email situation, while also fending off a rising Sanders.
Maybe he'll split Hillarys vote improving Bernie's chances...
More like the opposite.
The only "conventional wisdom" that can be applied is the current front runners have never finished in the winning spot, or at least they haven't in over 4 decades. Biden is a safe choice over Clinton because as dumb as things he says are, they're generally honest and well meaning, as opposed to Clinton's alternating scathe/cajol of the political moment, and for the political moment. No amount of spin short of her husband getting gunned down is going to keep her from looking like a complete mercenary at this point.
Biden does have Obama's fuck ups and failed promise to hang over him, but that's about it. If he can spin that off, he's in a much better position than Sanders. Sanders has virtually no chance of taking the college irrespective of the popular vote, because he refuses to play the game.
There isn't a PAC on earth that wants to see him in office, and those are the people that get you elected in the final stretch, because they're the ones that broker the EC votes.
so he's entered the "not declaired but definetly running" stage of his campaign, he's a little behind the ball, the republican clown car past that stage 4 months ago and most of the democrats passed it in the last two months

i wish people would understand this better, in his state, you do not have to declare a party affiliation for the general election, therefore he has always ran in the Vermont spirit as an independent even though he's done the primaries as a democrat.
he is a democrat, never has not been, and will run nationally on the democrat primary ballot
He's running under the Democratic nomination so he's a Democrat.
That's not how that works. Your political ideology isn't determined by who you caucus with.

Nah he's actually not
That's not how that works. Your political ideology isn't determined by who you caucus with.
You're right, so him running under the Democrat ticket is only going to hurt him more.

His ideology doesn't matter when he's caucusing with a party.
His ideology doesn't matter when he's caucusing with a party.
Actually it does matter, Vermont is one of about a dozen states which holds open primaries.
You're right, so him running under the Democrat ticket is only going to hurt him more.
If by hurt you mean the only possible way to be elected president as a third party candidate in our broken two party system then yeah I think I agree.
His ideology doesn't matter when he's caucusing with a party.
Haha why? That makes absolutely no sense what are you taking about? Clearly we have seen that he has not needed to bend his ideology to be in line with the DNC and if you weren't already aware, he can secure votes from other party members in open primary states.
But keep on thinking that lol.
What's the consensus in the US on Joe Biden? Is he a reasonable candidate for being president?
I think he's known more for putting his foot in his mouth more than his views, but I think this VP debate from 2012 speaks for itself

I think he'd be a great president. I'm personally behind Clinton, Biden, then Sanders (in that order)
This is a bunch of malarkey.
