To be fair, the price is actually not bad. For $350 you get a Wii, Wii U, and a game that's great with friends; not only that but if you already own Wii controllers you don't need to shell out even more money for controllers. Not to mention this is the only next gen console with real backwards compatibility, that's always a plus.
It's the lack of games. Are there anything interesting released on Wii U right now apart from Nintendo Land?

Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Brothers (For those who like it) and Lego City Undercover is supposed to be pretty good.
And of course thirdparty games like Batman Arkham City Armored, Sonic Allstars Racing and so on.
The majority of good games come out at the end of this year and beginning next year.

Don't forget the masterpiece that is New Super Luigi U.

I heard many good things about it. It's just that many people are fed with the 2D jump and run mario games and rather want more 3D mario games.
I'd settle for a 2d Mario that isn't completely bland.
It'll take until next year to get the new smash bros out? I think that is really too far away to rely on to save them.

You can hardly count games on other consoles as a reason to buy a Wii U. Especially Arkham City, which has some pretty serious framerate issues last I checked.

I never said such a thing. He just asked which games are out right now.
Of course soon games like Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World, Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze will come out that are worthlooking.
I'd buy one if there were better games, it's not the price of the console.
The problem is that they said that they were going to compete with Microsoft and Sony. Attract hardcore gamers and whatnot. Instead they brought us current gen hardware and no games to attract the "hardcore" gamers. Great for Nintendo fans but doesn't seem to be much value beyond their own first party games. Still, it is fun with friends.

That's why they have Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze coming out this year.
Hell, even the Wind Waker remake will probably pull in a sizeable crowd.

The most "core" franchise Ninty have is Metroid so it surprises me they still haven't brought out a new Metroid (hell even a Metroid Prime remake would have and probably still will make me buy a Wii U) for the system.

Nintendo pretty much abandoned "hardcore" gamers with the Wii, and now they're trying to get them back since Wii U has no casual appeal.

Retro is busy making Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
I'd love to play my WiiU more, only got it so early to catch up on Wii titles I missed like Skyward Sword since I skipped that console entirely, but yeah, will be great when the Wii U gets some actual games.
Its not bad but a price cut for the holidays would make it sell off the walls better.
I played a Wii U once before wanting one; the price was perfect, but after I learned there were no games I backed off.
I'd buy it in it's current state if it got dropped down to $250 for the Deluxe. I'm only really interested in a few of the Nintendo games coming to the console though (basically just Smash), that could be why I don't value it highly myself.
I have a Wii U, Got monster hunter and got some wii games and already have a wii controller. I'm enjoying it in the meantime while I wait for smash bro's.
Currently, they only really have Pikmin, in my opinion. I still say they released too early.
It won't matter though. As soon as they get closer to SSB, Zelda, or Metroid, it'll start selling like crazy.
Um, it kind of is. Why would I get a Wii U when I can spend 50$ more and get a much more powerful system?
Jesus, Nintendo is like Dora the Explorer.
Nintendo: -standing in front of a mostly empty shelf marked Wii U games- Can you see the problem?
Everyone: THE GAMES, THE GAMES!
Nintendo: It is not the price, dummy! Can you see the problem?

Swiper, no swiping!
The problem is, why would I buy a console with the only game I'd be remotely interested in being ZombieU because it doesn't have a port for anything else?

I don't see why anyone would buy the Deluxe though, the basic is 250$ and is literally the same thing except less storage memory but buying SD cards is much much cheaper than buying the deluxe for more memory. For 100$ you could get an or several SD cards that will have like 3 times the size of the Deluxe's storage memory.

Because of Nintendo's first party support.
Because of Nintendo's first party support.
Except that most people who care about Nintendo's first party support have already gotten a wii u.
And since wii u is weaker than xbone and ps4, it will be missing out on multiplatform games, so if the only gaming system you own is a wii u. You are pretty much fucked.

Lego City Undercover is great fun. It'd be awesome if it was more sandbox-like, but the writing is funny and spot on, and the game is surprisingly long. Definitely worth checking out.
