I'm wondering: is it necessary to completely uninstall your video driver, restart, run a thorough driver cleaning program, restart again, then install the new drivers, then restart yet again, every time you want to upgrade drivers?
I can understand doing that if you experience an issue or something, but do you even need to uninstall your current driver before upgrading driver versions?
I have an ATI 4870, by the way.
I've have never gone though that much to update my video drives, I just install it and if it requires I restart.
So i guess your answer is no, you do not have to do that each time.
Warning though; when I tried to update my ATI drivers and CCC, I got an error and I couldn't even get into windows in safemode.
windows 7 updated my drivers for me.
