Japanese police have arrested six men on charges of child pornography involving the abuse of at least 168 boys, Japanese media reported on Friday. The arrests come as Japan tries to clean up its image ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2014, responding to criticism that it was lax in protecting minors from sexual exploitation, Japan revised the law to ban possession of child pornography. Media, citing a police statement, said the victims were aged 4 to 13 and more than 100,000 files of child pornography were found on the arrested men's computers. The arrested men were aged 20 to 66. Some worked as volunteers at camps for elementary and middle school children, and some were elementary school teachers, media reported, adding that the suspects exchanged pornographic images directly, not over the internet, to avoid being detected.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-japan-childporn-idUSKBN15P0UT?il=0
168 boys abused

more than 100,000 files of child pornography
what the fuck this is insane
I didn't realize Japan had such a CP and child rape problem.
I didn't realize Japan had such a CP and child rape problem.
Erm the whole Lolita culture is fucking obvious? Not only that, but you have underage girls and boys sometimes reported working in maid/schoolgirl/butler cafes being abused.
The arrests come as Japan tries to clean up its image ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Better late than never I guess, but it's still kinda fucked up that they had to have an excuse for actually doing something about it. I mean this is the kind of mentality I use for getting myself to tidy up when someone comes over, not for solving a massive nation-wide CP problem.

I think they're just pointing out an interesting correlation.
Erm the whole Lolita culture is fucking obvious? Plus Lolita is a fashion style anyway.
I'm not basing this on anything, but doesn't their culture have a thing for over sexualizing kids?
Yeah but those lolis are nothing like real kids. Real kids are all bony or fat and act different, they're nothing like their depictions in anime or manga and even pornography. They're a fantasized version of kids. When people say 2D>3D, they're not joking, they really feel that way. That's not to say everyone into loli isn't a paedophile, there are legit paedophiles into it and it's always disturbing when they post about wanting to abuse kids.
Did they save the kids though?
Lolita is also a fashion I assume you meant people being lolicons and not people indulging in the fashion, or you're mixing the streams and getting confused
Everything I have searched suggests lolicon is cartoon paedophilia while Lolita is simply the 'fashionable' clothes that the children wear, i.e clothes designed for babies or those in early education. They both sound equally awful.
I'm not basing this on anything, but doesn't their culture have a thing for over sexualizing kids?
what's wrong with you? Maybe you should base your perception of Japan less off of 4chan and more in reality.
A guy in that Vice video says it's one of the most misogynistic developed countries in the world. From what I've read about the rights of women over there, this seems incredibly false to be honest. Edit: I truly wonder if this JK culture is even near as big of a thing as this video appears to make it out to be.

The internet's perception of Japan as one big blob of weirdness just because they fail to accept the concept of cultural differences may be funny at times, but in serious cases like these, it's just ridiculously dumb tbh.

Hell some people even believe anime is everywhere over there but it's not even mainstream in Japan surprisingly.
I'm not basing this on anything, but doesn't their culture have a thing for over sexualizing kids?
Our culture? OUR CULTURE? Fuck no. This is not our culture... But it is a problem.

Japan's culture used to be terribly mysoginistic, and still is to a certain extent. However, the new generation is absorbing new egalitarian ideas, especially thanks to the Internet, and society is changing its face and rejecting the rigid and slanted status quo of the past. It's a process that is going to take time, but it's well underway. Until about the year 2000 or 2001, Japanese public schools would arrange seating order alphabetically, boys first, and then the girls after. Seating order is now semi-arbitrary, or is alphabetical without respect to gender. The pride movement has been gaining momentum for years, and same-sex marriage is now legal in five cities/wards in Japan with more considering/developing legislation. Same-sex marriage is now favoured by a slight majority of the population. Japan is also facing a bit of a different crisis in the form of herbivore men and carnivore women, which is a marked reversal of the gender roles and, in the case of herbivore men a disinterest in forming relationships and making babies and contributing to that plunging birth rate. This is not a problem that the patriarchal Japan of a generation ago faced or worried about -- that it has arisen is evidence of a landmark shift in societal attitudes among the new generation. In many ways, Japan is socially 20 years behind the US, although it's catching up fast in places and lagging in others.
Because it is, and typical for Vice.
When I saw the VICE logo I admittedly was already half unimpressed. I need to do some research again, I've probably forgotten a lot. Maybe it was just in recent times that I was reading.

My fiancee loves it as a fashion style, and used to have a few dresses of her own. It's nothing to do with kids. Lol I fucked up the two
In many ways, Japan is socially 20 years behind the US, although it's catching up fast in places and lagging in others.
Well, that's subjective, I'd say every country has their ups and downs but no way is the US decades ahead of Japan.
Pretty sure it's illegal there.
just checked, still legal.
How would it be used to groom children?
its a cartoon that depicts sex between kids and adults, I think you can work out how.
How would it be used to groom children?
It can be used to normalise the sexualisation of children
