-snip- disregard that. I'm extremely bad at reading.
Using CloudLift will cost $15 a month
I was excited until I saw this. The game I wanted this for was removed from Onlive anyways.
I don't really understand this, it's basically a streaming service for games in your steam library?
the thing I never really understood about game streaming services is how they could possibly ever be solvent from an operating costs standpoint. you have to build out multiple server farms in key geographic areas, and then have to pay to run said servers. Onlive went bankrupt, gaikai was purchased (though nobody really knew their finances). I just think it has remained too niche of a service for most people to justify subscribing to games that could very well have an unreliable play experience. Kinda makes me wonder about what sony is planning on with playstation now as well, would they be able to operate a service like that and not have the division be running a loss?
The thing is, im pretty sure OnLive is what invented game streaming, and regardless of how bad it was at release with things like terrible lag input and shit like that, it still is imo the future of gaming, if you could stream a game instantly, at the highest settings, on some shitty computer, without any noticible lag, then you just out right solved a big divide of gamers. You can now get people who really want to get into PC gaming, but dont want to spend all that money on a fancy gaming computer or deal with custom building, instead they could get something that just works. So im just guessing the companies who own Onlive and shit right now also know this, and are holding onto. Same with other companies that are gonna start this shit.
