The chests are unlocked via [I]AC Initiates[/I], a companion web-app for AC Unity, but they were inaccessible because the web-app is down for maintenance. So the chests are now freely accessible within AC Unity itself without any extra nonsense, you just have to go find them in-game.

I don't suppose there's any way to use the companion app or some substitute if you don't have a smartphone or a tablet, is there? Have they perhaps made one that can be installed on Windows 8/8.1 via the Windows Store?
