Trump made a "large-scale" write-off for construction losses in 2005, the White House said, in response to questions about a partial disclosure of his tax return from that year. He also paid "millions of dollars in other taxes such as sales and excise taxes and employment taxes," an official said, without giving further details. The White House published its statement just before material from Trump's 2005 tax return was disclosed by journalist David Cay Johnston on his website and on MSNBC.
Excellent. So now since they verified his tax returns, go ahead and release them all from 2005 onwards!
Lower effective tax rate than me! And i'm just level 2 IT Helpdesk.
Call me ignorant but, at this stage, what exactly do Trump's tax returns really matter?

On top of this, the idiot Kellyanne Conway had this to say:
"Hey guys we got Trumps tax returns and we are going to expose him!!!" "... from 2005" Why is the American media like this? It's a joke.
I don't get why there's such a big deal over his tax returns, if there was something dodgy the IRS would've taken action but since Trump broke his promise to release them after the IRS audit (even though he could've released them during the audit), and he did the same dumb shit to Obama over his birth certificate, I'm good with it
Call me ignorant but, at this stage, what exactly do Trump's tax returns really matter?
Well there'll be another election eventually, so yes, they do mater for shaping the future.

It's a joke.
Because click bait, and ratings, and money. Take the money out of the equation and then we will have more accurate news. Or no news at all because the news industry isn't even about news as much as its about ratings and money.

The funny thing is most people know how Trump does his taxes so this isn't some breaking news. It is really common for people like Trump to write off losses.
"Hey guys we got Trumps tax returns and we are going to expose him!!!" "... from 2005" Why is the American media like this? It's a joke.
because MSNBC has been pretty fucking weird about trump. day one they said "WE HAVE THE INSIDE TRACK TO THE DON!" which pretty much never materialized, cnn has better insiders
Stuff like this is why I like to stick to stuff like NPR, C-Span, AP, Politico, etc. for most news. It's interesting that written and radio news sources are rising while majorn station sources are dropping when it comes to credibility, certainly do to the rise of internet use and streaming services.
In the first half of the Maddow episode in question she offers some pretty good reasons for wanting to see his returns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unql_b-WHf4&feature=youtu.be&t=125
