Mr Juhl, 34, carried out the killing, saying it was to demonstrate the hypocrisy of animal rights campaigners who eat meat from supermarkets. Linse Kessler, who had been part of an earlier discussion in the studio, talked her way back inside in a bid to save Allan but, despite chasing Mr Juhl around the table, she could not prevent the bunny's fate. The rabbit reportedly twitched several times before quietly dying. On the radio's Facebook page, a video was posted of meat being fried, with a comment from the station saying that Mr Juhl and co-host Kristoffer Eriksen would be eating the rabbit following its death. There was also a sound recording of Allan's final moments. The broadcast prompted an angry response from listeners, with some calling for a boycott of the station. The radio station's spokesman said they had "anticipated strong reactions" and had put the animal down in a way based on instructions from an animal caretaker at a local zoo. "We knew that we would be accused of provocation. And yes, we indeed wanted to provoke the public and to stir a debate about the hypocrisy when it comes to perceptions of cruelty towards animals. "Consumers generally do not kill animals themselves, but we buy and eat animals, that have lead sad lives. We just don’t see it, and don’t consider the animals ‘cute’ as the rabbit. "These animals have often endured horrific suffering on their way to our dinner tables. These animals are killed according to the same controlled conditions as our studio rabbit, and without it invoking any strong reactions or calls for boycott.
http://news.sky.com/story/1490826/danish-radio-dj-kills-rabbit-live-on-air This is stupid, animals are not killed in a radio station. And the article said it was beaten with a bicycle pump.
let's stop violence with more violence A+ thinking
Brilliant Hosts. To them goes the prize of ultimate fucking stupidity. Why and how would you simply kill anything just to "Raise Awareness"? Especially in the western world where you don't need to do any drastic action to get any Awareness? Fuck.
What the fuck how does this even raise awareness
Hey guys, I think maybe we should go out and diddle kids, to show ya know, how harmful it is on their pysche? :downs:
You know what happens when you fight fire with fire? You burn your house down. You fight fire with water, cold cold logical water
What the fuck how does this even raise awareness
Well he definitely raised awareness that he is a fucking cunt.
Europe
Next he's going to tackle racism by going around and calling black people niggers, and sexism by backhanding women.
I find It impossible to believe they thought advice from a "caretaker at the zoo" to beat your rabbit with a bike pump was even CLOSE to sound advice. This is just plain idiotic; feel bad the rabbit was bought by such a dickhead
Not to start a shitstorm but how comes that some Danes get stupid-ass ideas regarding animals? We have this, the beached whale incident and then the fuck ups done by Copenhagen Zoo. Not trying to put a stamp on the Danish as there's idiots in all countries but seriously...
They should beat him with a bicycle pump and say it's to raise awareness for radio show personalities that lose their jobs by doing stupid shit.

"carried out the killing, saying it was to demonstrate the hypocrisy of animal rights campaigners who eat meat from supermarkets." Does he eat meat? If so he's just as much of a hypocrite as the rest of us.
Urge to beat the living shit out of this guy rising......and i know violence never solves the answer but damn it would make me feel good after reading this.
Completely defeats the purpose of the message. Just makes me wanna kick this person's ass something fierce.
These animals are killed according to the same controlled conditions as our studio rabbit, and without it invoking any strong reactions or calls for boycott.
I don't know about you, but I don't think comparing instant death by the method of electrocution or a bolt in the head and clobbering to death with a fucking bicycle pump is a good idea.
well they sure did raise awareness [editline]26th May 2015[/editline]
I don't know about you, but I don't think comparing instant death by the method of electrocution or a bolt in the head and clobbering to death with a fucking bicycle pump is a good idea.
they normally slice the throat of the animal and let it bleed out. some religions also sing songs while this occures

Really don't know how anyone involved thought it was a good idea.

I swear to God, anyone who spent any significant amount of time on SH should be familiar with the concept by now.
Why a bicycle pump tho
I dont feel like the devil's advocate here, but I'll try and express myself the best I can. An animal was killed, for the purpose of eating it- a bit strange with the bikepump, but a blunt object is quite common. When freerange chickens are killed, they are also hit with the blunt end of the axe to knock them out, I see no difference here. Already people are drawing connections with Marius the giraffe and how it was macabre to let children spectate. Firstly this is just stupid and secondly there is no harm in that. The sooner children are exposed to the real world, the better. If a farmer were to kill a bunny, the conventional way is much, much more disturbing, yet instant death occurs, like here.

Have you ever held an axe? I have, and an axe is going to very reliably stun or outright kill something with a head as small as a chicken's in one whack. This: Is absolutely not going to be even half, a quarter as effective. it's not made with the sole purpose of hitting things with it, live or dead. It's made to fill bike tires with air. Real rabbit farmers kill animals actually instantaneously (not bashing them with the first thing these people found around the studio). Usually, the artery is sliced, meaning they lose consciousness and bleed out in seconds. They barely even know they're dying. Another common method is to hold them by the legs and deliver a sharp hit with a metal pipe to the back of the neck, dislocating the head from the spine and again, causing instant death. Again, the rabbit barely knows they're dying. It doesn't matter if they ate it. That means nothing given the way it died. And saying it would be ok for children to see it/hear it on air is disgusting.
Europe
Yeah, because this obviously happens all around Europe.
ITT: People offended because they apparently had no idea that in order to get meat, you kill an animal. (User was banned for this post ("ITT: Memeshit" - Big Dumb American))
Europe
I wouldn't expect you to know, but Britain is part of Europe, as much as some of you guys hate the fact.
ITT: People offended because they apparently had no idea that in order to get meat, you kill an animal.
Or maybe it's because he beat a fucking baby rabbit to death on live air? Like what the fuck do you think we're upset over here, I think it's pretty obvious people are appalled by how and what he killed, not that you need to kill things for meat You'd have to be bone-dead stupid to not know you kill things for meat.
