Does anyone know when Newegg will start selling Sandy Bridge motherboards again? I remember that Intel released the fix to manufacturers on the 14th, so I would assume the motherboards would be back around early March. Any known or speculated dates?
I would say early March would be a good estimate
I've been really anxious to see them back in stock, can't wait to order everything
I know dick all about the process involved in fixing all the mobos but I'd guess 2-3 weeks until they're available again
I know dick all about the process involved in fixing all the mobos but I'd guess 2-3 weeks until they're available again
What happened was that Intel found that a metal used in the SATA part of the chipset was bad and would degrade faster than it should, so they had to stop production, change that metal, and then restart production. The fix was rolled out to manufacturers on the 14th, so I guess 2-3 weeks sounds right.
I know what's wrong, I mean I don't know exactly how long it's going to finish each stage of fixing it e.g delivery times, how long it'll take to replace P/H67, etc
I too am eagerly awaiting the return of the 1156 motherboards. More money to spend now. :v:
1155
It's not the first time I've made that mistake. I'll just say Sandy Bridge next time.
Do we have any updates on the motherboard situation? Have any manufacturers set a target date? I just want them to take my money already. :frown:
asus is starting to send out fixed laptops http://www.techpowerup.com/141196/ASUS-to-Begin-Shipping-Updated-Intel-Sandy-Bridge-Notebooks.html so it shouldn't be too much longer there's also a sticker to confirm the product is B3 MSI also announced this http://www.techpowerup.com/141195/MSI-Announces-P67A-GD80-B3-Motherboard.html
Looks like Newegg has a few open box motherboards from ASUS now.
Looks like they all sold out already, wow.
Some good news. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2011/02/18/fixed-sandy-bridge-chipset-begins-shipping/1
Intel has already started shipping fixed B3-stepping 6-series Sandy Bridge chipsets to ‘first-tier makers’ of laptops and motherboards. It’s therefore expected that these companies will ‘unveil their Sandy Bridge-based models at the end of the month.'
Awesome. I'm not sure what motherboard I want, but I eagerly await their return.

Wait... is it 1156 or 1155? Will an i5 2500k, which is 1156 work in a 1155 socket? I though this generation of i3/i5/i7 were made to compliment SandyBridge? I am so confused.
2500K is not 1156, it's 1155, and it will only work in 1155

I always read the cores as 1156. No idea why.
because 1st gen i5 and (2nd gen?) i7s were on 1156 like the 750, 860, etc
I never looked into the first gens though.
I never looked into the first gens though.
Well now you know.
Well now you know.
:eng101:
MSI has a couple M-ATX boards out that aren't of of stock and are B3 revision.
I'm gonna pass on those. There is no need to rush into buying one out of their current meager selections. I may just wait till after Spring Break.
bah just H67/1, and the single P67 is biostar
If anyone is interested there are a few more P67 motherboards available now. I haven't done my research yet on what board I'm looking for so I don't how good the current choices are.
I've ordered one, along with an i5 2400
