Now, I'm not too good on the hardware side of computers, so try to hang with me here. There is a distinct chance that I'll have no idea what I am talking about.
On all of my games that I regularly play, I am above the recommended hardware settings for all. However, I am still getting terrible, unplayable framerates from all my games. After doing a little research, I think I have found my problem, or at least a pretty large contributor of it. I feel that my CPU is getting bottlenecked by my GPU. Of course, I know very little about bottlenecking, so I cannot tell if this is a problem.
So, my question is, how to I figure out if I have a bottleneck?
Also, I apologize if I am not using the correct terminology or if I am taking this out of context as I am not too good with this subject at all.
Also, specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @ ~2.00GHz
3GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
(can go into further detail upon request)
well It would help if we had some specs?
If you lower the resolution in games and the frame rate does not change then its the CPU bottle necking. If its the other way around then its the GPU.

Ok, I will try that.
Thanks.

Eh...
Added.
You're using a laptop, even if a component was being bottlenecked there's really not much you could do about it. You tried updating to the latest video drivers?
