Stupid computer/network issues that shouldn't be issues

I figured I'd start a nice thread for my morning. Woke up to a call at 5AM asking why the network wasn't working. No idea. Get to work, NAS is fine, I see no issues at all. It's slow as can be, feels like 10mbps but the switch reports 1gbps. Pings fine, admin page is stupid slow too. Check entire network, everything looks great. I assume it might be 1 user with a screwed up NIC slowing the network. Continue to debug for 2 hours, reading the user manual of our Seagate BlackArmor 440. The 'System Status LED' is flashing blue, but not a single user manual mentions that it has that functionality. I reboot it a few times to no avail. Finally I decide to disconnect the backup drive that's connected over USB. Suddenly everything is fine. What did I learn? Never reboot the NAS while not on site to test it... Then again I didn't reboot it, the other IT guy did. It's been a hell of a Tuesday.
Err, are we supposed to share software issues or ?
Because this just seems like a blog
My intent was more for you to share stories of shitty situations pertaining to computer hardware.
Back in the day when Dialup was still common, I had a weird problem where every 15 minutes my computer would make a weird sound as if a fan was turning on or speeding up and that would boot me offline every single fucking time.
