• Optus reduces global roaming rates which will save global travellers money, Telstra pressured to als
Pressure is mounting on Telstra to reduce its global roaming charges after Optus joined Vodafone and announced significantly cheaper rates for those who use their mobile phone while travelling overseas. As well as announcing it would simplify its five geographical pricing zones to two in mid-September — and significantly reduce what it charges for calls, texts and data in those zones — Optus also said that, from November, it would offer a $10 per day "travel pack" that would allow customers travelling to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Europe, the UK, US, Canada and Asia to make unlimited calls, texts and browse the internet using 30 megabytes of data. The reduction in roaming charges, made on the eve of expected further news from Vodafone on roaming, should mean Optus loses the title of "Australia's worst network for data roaming pricing", which was given to it by the Australian Business Traveller website in 2011.
http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/mobiles/optus-reduces-roaming-rates-all-eyes-on-telstra-20130821-2salg.html
and browse the internet using 30 megabytes of data.
Wow, you could load almost five pages with that much!
Wow, you could load almost five pages with that much!
I get charged like over a million dollars if I exceed my data plan with optus its amazing
I have 1GB on my plan with Telstra... So help me god, if I exceed that, my grandchildren will still be paying off the first 10mb..
I dont have to pay a dime if i exceed my 1GB, I just get 56k modem speeds.
$10 per day "travel pack"[...]30 megabytes of data
At that rate it would be cheaper to get a local plan even if you're only staying one day. Hell, if you're going to multiple places, it would still be cheaper to buy a local plan in one country and roaming with that in the next.
What a joke.
