What do you need to run 3 monitors?
Right now I'm running two off my graphics card (geforce gtx 295). How do people run more? How do people run 6 monitor configurations?
I'm looking to run 3 monitors, and if you can do that off one graphics card it would be ideal. And if I can run it off the graphics card I have now, it would be even more ideal.
You hypothetically do it off one card if you got an external splitter. That costs money and isn't the best. I'd just recommend using two cards and running it from there.

Something like that?
I would suppose with dual/tri graphics card setups, using three HDMI ports.
More graphics cards. Another GTX295 would allow you to add two more displays. A third would allow an additional 2 displays.

This would simply clone the displays, he wishes to extend his desktop by the sounds of it.
NB: Technically you don't need to get another of the same card if you only want to add more displays: and therefore aren't concerned with technologies such as SLi. However, you may not mix two different brands of GPU (nVidia/ATi) as this causes driver issues.
Graphics cards can only run 2 monitors unless its an ATI Eyefinity, so you would need another graphics card per 2 monitors
I did ask the same thing. Facepunch told to get another cheap PCI-card.
Need to be geforce i think then becouse it has to be for the same drivers.
This was the answer i got
if you're desperate, maybe a cheap PCI card for the third monitor?
would need to be ATi for drivers
Yeah, that seems appropriate.
I believe Windows 7 allows more than two monitors, though I've not tested this. I would assume Windows Vista does this too.

I run 3/4 displays on Windows 7, Vista supported this too. Can't remember about XP, it's years since I used it.
Technically, this graphics card is 2 cards, I don't suppose that makes a difference right?
Does it have 4 dvi?
I use a Matrox Triple Head To Go for three monitors. Pretty good, but it makes the graphics card see them as one monitor(so whenever I maximize a screen it brings them up on all screens). You can get a Dual Head To Go and use the second video port on your GPU for a third monitor (several of my friends do this, I wish I did).

Not sure, but if it has a HDMI output in addition to the two DVI outputs, you may be able to use that, best way to find out is to try. Doubt it, though.
Edit: This is confirmed to work, see the bottom of this page. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2008/12/18/nvidia_geforce_gtx_295_preview/

No, not unless it has 4 DVI / VGA outputs. :P

OS has nothing to do with this.

OS could impact how many he can run.
Even XP supports 2+.

Awesome
Don't get TH2Go, it's too unflexible (constrained to ONE resolution for all monitors, has max resolution) and expensive so you might as well get a cheap-ass PCI (yes, plain old PCI) GPU to connect your other monitor(s) to.
If you want to game on three monitors, you might want to get it though, since SoftTH doesn't work in all scenarios (TH2Go doesn't either because of the problems I mentioned but as SoftTH is free you can use both).
Edit: Oh and you can of course use all available screen ports on your GPU(s)

Heh, glad to help. :)
Edit: Oh and post a photo of your new setup once you're done!
It's for when we move into the office next year, but will post photos anyway :9
