Update: [highlight]WE'RE CONDEMNING IRAN[/highlight]
[release]Western powers have condemned Iran for test-firing its most advanced long-range missiles, with the White House calling the move "provocative".
But the UK said the tests should not distract from international talks with Iran on its nuclear programme later this week and Russia urged restraint.
Iran tested missiles which Tehran says are capable of striking targets in Israel, state media reported on Monday.
It comes days after Tehran's disclosure of a second uranium enrichment plant.
Iran is due to hold crucial talks with the five UN Security Council members plus Germany in Geneva on Thursday on a wide range of security issues, including its nuclear programme.
Reaction
The Revolutionary Guards tested the Shahab-3 and Sajjil rockets, believed to have ranges of up to 2,000km (1,240 miles), potentially permitting them to reach Israel and US bases in the Gulf.
"Obviously these were pre-planned military exercises," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.
"I would lump any of these into the provocative nature in which Iran has operated on the world stage for a number of years," he added.
When asked what Washington wanted from the much-anticipated talks, Mr Gibbs said: "They can agree to immediate unfettered access [of the nuclear fuel facility]... That would be the least that they could do."
France also called the tests a "provocation" and called on Tehran to immediately stop "these deeply destabilising activities".
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called the tests "reprehensible" but said they should not distract attention from the talks.
EU foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, said Tehran had produced "a new context" for the talks, but said the time was not right to discuss further sanctions.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the tests "worrisome", but called for restraint.
"Now is not the time to succumb to emotions, it is necessary to calm down and above all to start up an effective negotiation process," Russia's foreign ministry was quoted as saying. [/release]

Gesture of "defence" indeed.
[release][b]The Telegraph[/b] Iran said it successfully test-fired short-range missiles during drills by the elite Revolutionary Guard, a show of force days after the U.S. and its allies condemned Tehran over a newly revealed underground nuclear facility that was being secretly constructed. Iran said it successfully test-fired short-range missiles during drills by the elite Revolutionary Guard, a show of force days after the U.S. and its allies condemned Tehran over a newly revealed underground nuclear facility that was being secretly constructed. English-language Press TV reported the Fateh-110, Tondar-69 and Zelzal were test fired in a missile defence exercise, but did not give specifics on range or other details. All are short-range, surface-to-surface missiles. [/release]

Yes, I'm sure Iran are only just using Nuclear Power to power their country.
[highlight]CHINA MAY SUPPORT THE UN AGAINST IRAN!!![/highlight]
[release]Beijing has come under increasing pressure from Washington to take a tough line against Iran. In private talks, Barack Obama, US president, has stressed to Hu Jintao, the Chinese president, "the centrality of the Iran nuclear issue to US national security interests", according to a White House aide.
Until now, Chinese diplomats have been tight-lipped over their stance, reiterating Beijing's policy of non-interference in foreign affairs. He Yafei, the Chinese deputy foreign minister, said on Friday: "Personally, I don't like the word punishment. I think all issues can only be solved through dialogue and negotiation." China also relies on Iran for roughly 12 per cent of its oil imports and several Chinese firms have active business interests in Tehran. An online poll in the Global Times, a state-owned Chinese newspaper, showed that 80 per cent of Chinese opposed sanctions against Iran.
If this week's meetings with Iranian negotiators break down without a diplomatic solution, China would be likely to support sanctions, predicted Shen Dingli, a professor at the Centre for American Studies at Shanghai's Fudan University. "China has voted in favour of sanctions against Iran in the past," said Mr Shen. "The situation is similar now, so it is logical to assume China will vote in favour again."[/release]

It's going to kick off.
[highlight]RUSSIA ARE HELPING IRAN!!![/highlight]
[release]Russia has powerful levers to pull in persuading Iran to open up
Moscow is helping Iran to build its first nuclear power plant and is a favoured supplier of military hardware to the Islamic Republic. It also enjoys strong trading relations with Tehran.
There is only one problem: Russia does not really believe in sanctions. When it comes to diplomacy (at least with countries outside its former sphere of influence), the Kremlin says it favours the carrot not the stick. It is in favour of engagement, dialogue and negotiations but not sanctions, and definitely not missile strikes.
This explains why Dmitry Medvedev, president, has been so coy about talking up the chance of Russia backing sanctions. The furthest he has gone is to say that "sometimes" sanctions are "inevitable", hardly an unequivocal endorsement.
The other problem is that the Kremlin has been sending mixed messages. Vladimir Putin, the prime minister and most powerful politician in Russia, has publicly denounced the idea of sanctions against Iran. [/release]

I don't want to set the world... On... Fire.
Some Q&A too
[release]Has Iran now admitted it is seeking to produce nuclear weapons?
Western analysts say the only conceivable purpose for a second uranium enrichment plant near Qom is to make nuclear weapons – it is too small for a power plant but too big for a research facility. Comments by an aide to Iran's supreme leader that the Qom facility would "blind the eyes of the enemies", suggest intentions not compatible with a previous explanation that the nuclear programme was peaceful and civilian. Yet Iran still claims to be opposed to nuclear weapons. The head of its nuclear programme said the plant would supplement the first enrichment plant at Natanz in case Iran was "restrained" from nuclear activities, and would produce "low enriched" uranium unsuitable for weapons.
Was the disclosure of the second plant deliberately timed for last week?
MI6 and the CIA say they have monitored suspicious activities near Qom since 2006 or before. But Western governments revealed this only after Iran recently informed the International Atomic Energy Agency. Iran may have done so to pre-empt a surprise announcement by the United States during talks starting this Thursday.
Should Iran have disclosed the plant before?
Iran says IAEA rules do not oblige it to publicise a nuclear plant until 180 days before it inserts nuclear fuel. In 2003 it signed an updated rule requiring immediate notification, but withdrew unilaterally from that agreement in 2007. Whether Iran is in breach of the rules depends on whether that unilateral withdrawal is accepted. However, if work on the plant began in 2006, Iran was at least in breach between then and 2007.
Are there other plants?
Iran has a declared the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. A secret part of an American intelligence assessment two years ago is believed to contain allegations of a dozen other nuclear-linked sites. The National Council of Resistance, an exiled opposition coalition, alleges a programme called "Metfaz" is manufacturing atom bomb triggers.
What will Israel do now? Why did its prime minister make a secret mission to Russia?
Israel, the United States and Britain have not ruled out a military strike. The US and Britain want to avoid another Middle East war, but Israel says a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable. Israel has previously destroyed an Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981 and a Syrian facility in 2007. On the other hand, Ehud Barack, its defence minister, said recently that Iran was not an "existential threat", because Israel could "lay waste" to Iran, hinting a nuclear-armed Israel might be prepared to live with a nuclear-armed Iran on the safety principle of "mutually assured destruction".
Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew to Moscow three weeks ago, probably to urge Russia to stop the sale of advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Iran that would protect its nuclear facilities.
Are sanctions inevitable? If so, what will they be and what effect will they have?
Barack Obama, US president, will use the latest revelations to force Iran to make concessions or, if not, to bounce the United Nations into approving tougher sanctions. These could include restrictions on petrol imports, Iranian banks, and Iranian shipping. Such sanctions would seriously affect the ailing Iranian economy but if not universally applied they could allow some powerful countries with good relations with Iran to bolster their influence. Are you actually surprised that China is on our side?
On another note, sanctions will only further convince the iranians that the US is an imperialist power
If it is maybe it'll put those damn gold farmers to use.
They can call'em "bullet farmers" and have them stand infront of regular troops. :science:
I bet Ahmadinejad will freak out and lock himself in a closet because everyone is ganging up on him.

See! WHAT DID I TELL YOU!!!
Russia and Iran will join up and have a war with America and the British.
Anyway, the excuse that the folks at Iran give is that they are giving their Poppy seed growing country some proper futuristic westernised and civilised power source so they can make them selves look more advanced and superior than the rest of the countries in that LEDC area.
But in reality they are probably working on getting depleted uranium shells to not melt the soldiers inside their new tactical nuclear tanks which they will probably then sell to the Terrorists so they can fight the UN forces better.
Then of course they take back all their land that the UN have wasted lots of lives to do so, thus meaning that the people in our countries back over here will get really really pissed off with their governments and ask them to pull out of the countries that they are in, then they will pull out after enough pressure from the people is given to them.
Then when they finally move out, Israel will fire their missiles at Iran etc... and then UK and the US will be like "shit, we're dumbasses for moving out, we must go back into that area to fix the problem and kill the terrorists".
Then of course Russia has a civil war involving Russian Nationalists and Royalists (To the government) and then they will be fighting over all that radioactive material that is up there around chernobyl and the surrounding Gamma filled wasteland. Then of course the Russian Nationalists with all the nuclear warheads they have put into their Missile Silos will join up with the Remaining terrorists who are now mainly based in Saudi Arabi, then the US Military will start to concuct plans to invade and take out the 4 ring leaders involved. (2 Russians, 2 Arabs)
However in a quick mess up of actions a Serbian ship is sunk in that bit between America and russia, so Russia get pissed off at america and claim they will fire missiles if they do not say sorry and pay money to them. Then the British Forces will tell the Americans to deal with the Arabians and then they go to sort out the russians.
Then the guy in charge of Saudi Arabia is killed by the Terrorist revolution. So the US Army use this as a reason to invade the country and plunder all of it's Heroin and Oil which they will make tons of money out of. At the same time the UK forces will do some stuff in Russia, but this will all be behind the scenes work, and they fix a lot of things in a good way. Then just as the Arabian Ring leader is thought to of been captured the whole of the US army get raped by a Nuclear Missile that was meant to be deactivated by a SEAL team, but that didn't go so well because 100,000 soldiers have died in the blast. The same on the other side may of happened too, but a pull out order to head to Azerbajan was put in so there are still a load of troops.
Then the UK forces kill the Leader of the Arabian forces and kill 1000 Russian/Arabian soldiers in the process. Then the second in command of the russians shoots himself on top of a russian tower block after an epic chase scene took place. Then after enough fighting, the Russian dude gets killed by some crazy soldier on a bridge who uses his knife to stab him to death because another soldier damaged a Hind. Then we all think of the day being saved by some muppet who passed selection called Soap.
I think that will happen anyway, but why listen to me? My posts are of shit quality and will do no good because I'm a retard.
This is why you pull out now and give the LEDCs in that area reperations and ask them nicely to fire their nukes at North Korea instead so that the above doesn't happen which leads to some arctic and Brazilian combat which involves awful multiplayer where you can go up 65 levels 10 times if you have no life.
