SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — At least six people were stabbed Sunday when members of right-wing extremists groups holding a rally outside the California state Capitol building in Sacramento clashed with counter-protesters, authorities said.
Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said emergency crews transported six people who were stabbed, some critically wounded, and that many other people had cuts, scrapes and bruises.

"There was a large number of people carrying sticks and rushing to either get into the melee or see what was going on," Harvey said.
California Highway Patrol officers managed to break up the large fight but some members of both groups remained in the area an hour after the fight first broke out, Harvey said.
Judging by the "muerte al fascismo" ("death to fascism" in Spanish) banner, and how they were chasing a guy who was just trying to document what happened... I think we can guess who started it.
At least no one died.

Yea, thankfully it didn't get any worse, but I still find quite strange that if one group just wants to stroll around, no matter how they are, *another* counter-group shows up and eventually things escalate.
From what I've gathered, the far right group hadn't even set up when the counter protestors moved in.

Not yet, but some people are in critical condition.

Cops are usually in number to keep clashes from happening, but that's because counter protestors are registered, a new phenomena is counter protestors not registering or deflating their number so cops don't commit as many people.
So who is responsible?
Antifa started the attacks, and the first victim was a Nationalist who was stabbed in his stomach. After that the Nationalist took arms with their signs and started beating the living shit out of anyone who dared start shit with them.

Police later stepped in to calm everyone the fuck down, and the Antifa started attacking the police with cement they broke apart from nearby pavement.
In short, fuck Antifa.

Dude, that was some hardcore medieval execution shit.
Nice, going back to 1933 I see....
What I find more worrisome is that they were chasing a dude who had nothing to do with the protest, he was there to document what was going on

Wouldn't be the first tome Antifa guys do this sort of thing.

Shit like this makes me think we're regressing as a species.
I think it's kind of stupid how that news Twitter has to say "he is not a white supremacist"
Like just because you're on the right or far right side of the spectrum doesn't make you out to be a racist I mean come on.
Antifas are fucking scum. They act like the guys they're fighting against.
Stuff like this genuinely makes me believe that America is headed into another civil war. Hell, with the the fracas over Brexit, it feels like tension all over the world is getting so high that something's gonna burst soon.

How do LGBT people feel about groups using their symbols? I'm sure the people waving the flag are LGBT but why mix up a politically neutral movement with ones that have a clear political slant, is it a case of any friendly group is acceptable?

Political polarization in this country has been going on for decades now. However, it's starting to reach a boiling point because of how split we've become. We're seeing the beginning now in the general dissatisfaction our people have against the government and this fucking dogshit system. When incredibly unorthodox candidates like Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump come along and perform as well as they have against the typical establishment candidates (Trump especially as far as the right-wing is concerned), you know people are starting to get sick and tired with how things are going.
And it's also just an outspoken thing anymore; people talk all the time about how they're fed up and want change. Add to all this the absurdity of more and more people turning towards supporting identity politics/hyphenated Americanism (which does nothing except perpetuate division between groups and the country as a whole), and you've got a recipe for inevitable civil unrest.
I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: things cannot go on this way forever. It's not alarmism; things are going beyond just old-fashioned "business as usual" behavior now. Something's got to happen eventually. I don't think it will be a genuine civil war, but I do think we can expect to see more violence in general. I could be wrong though, it might turn out to be an orgy of absolute apeshit insanity. I often wonder how climate change is going to impact politics as its effects start to be more and more seriously felt within our lifetimes.
I have Ph.Ds in History, Political Science, and Sociology and have written two dozen dissertations on the rise of the third reich. Morally speaking, I think hitting nazis with sticks... *pauses in deep contemplation for 300 years* is probably fine.

Source?
Don't get me wrong I think the violence is fucking stupid no matter who start it and the Antifa is doing the left a big disservice but you can't just say "these guys started it" when not even the news knows

Jesus that guy with the 2x4 is going nuts! What a dick head.
I will however, entertain arguments from facepunch contrarians who wish to explain to me how, just a few decades after the entire world came together to explode nazis with HEAT shells and strafe them with Sturmoviks to halt their campaign of systemic murder and terror, it is now not OK to hit them with sticks.
Matthew Heimbach, chairman of the Traditionalist Worker Party, told the Los Angeles Times that his group and the Golden State Skinheads organized the Sunday rally. Heimbach said that in the clash, one of their marchers had been stabbed in an artery and six of the counter-protesters had also been stabbed.
No we can't

congrats that means fuck all
they teach you in preschool not to hit people because they dont share your views. maybe you should head back.

It's an excuse more than anything else. No matter how disgusting they are, they can always play the victim. Don't like what they're doing? Whhhyyyy dooo you haaaatee gaayyy ppeeeeepllee :(
congrats that means fuck all

They also tell you in preschool that all humans are created equal though
Yet
"We concluded that it was time to use this rally to make a statement about the precarious situation our race is in," the Traditionalist Youth Network statement said. "With our folk on the brink of becoming a disarmed, disengaged, and disenfranchised minority, the time to do something was yesterday!"
But I agree that the violent arm of the AntiFa is really fucking retarded
How do LGBT people feel about groups using their symbols? I'm sure the people waving the flag are LGBT but why mix up a politically neutral movement with ones that have a clear political slant, is it a case of any friendly group is acceptable?
As an LGBT person I can say that I believe the LGBT movement is not neutral on the issue of Nazis and Neo Nazis, considering how Nazis exterminated LGBT people by the thousands. I can assure you that mainstream LGBT politics is decidedly anti-nazi. The iconic pink triangle is itself an appropriation of the symbol homosexual men were sent to deathcamps wearing.
If you can't handle a counter-protest and a little beating, maybe you shouldn't decide to show up to a fascist rally.

If you have 3 doctorates but you need people to explain to you why stabbing people with offensive views is different from an active war then maybe your time at university was not well spent
If you have 3 doctorates but you need people to explain to you why stabbing people with offensive views is different from an active war then maybe your time at university was not well spent
I never said stabbing people is ok, but sometimes when you're hitting nazis with sticks (perfectly ok) emotions get a little heated. Ultimately you have to determine who is at fault and clearly that was the nazis, who instigated the conflict by being nazis in public. If they want to express their free speech they can do it in a cave, to one of those blind cave crocodiles, or maybe to a stalagmite.

so you want to encourage them, if they want to do as little as enjoy freedom of speech, to go full brownshirt and start clearing streets
