best april fools joke yet [editline]1st April 2013[/editline] in the games industry that is
Wow, this almost makes me want to buy Guild Wars 2 And I straight up hate MMORPGs
HOLY SHIT
I hear you can do this by yourself unlike most dungeons, anyone know if this is true?
Wow, this almost makes me want to buy Guild Wars 2 And I straight up hate MMORPGs
If you hate MMORPG's I'd stay away from GW2 as it falls in just as many tropes as the others. This is a cool event though.
Time to play some more of this! Its been a while, but I've been meaning to play again.
Wow, this almost makes me want to buy Guild Wars 2 And I straight up hate MMORPGs
part of the development process was to appeal to people that hate MMOs as a person who hated every MMO i've tried (besides EVE online, but that's another story) i highly suggest it.
They managed to make better content for April Fools than all the previous content updates combined. That's sadly not really a good thing, despite how brilliant it is. Edit: Can people clarify - they really prefer underwhelming content since release in exchange for a badass top notch but only available for April content release?
Could these two statements possibly be any more conflicting?
I'd suggest the same thing I suggest for every MMO. Try the trial. If there's no trial, like in Guild Wars 2's case, see if you can get a friend who owns it and is willing to let you access their account to give you a few hours with it. The game has no subscription fee, so this might be easier if you know a friend who stopped playing it.
Could these two statements possibly be any more conflicting?
I hear the same thing from a lot of people but I dunno how it's rationalized. GW2 is a game about going around and killing enough centaurs or gathering enough unexploded mortar shells to fill a bar and repeating that until you get to 80 then you can start doing dungeons or fractals or world bosses to get loot that lets you more easily clear dungeons and fractals and world bosses. Sure there are jumping puzzles and other such distractions but nothing stops me from jumping around Orgrimmar in WoW either. The core gameplay is still very much an MMORPG with all the downsides that label comes with. Funny enough I'd still recommend the game for people who do like that kind of gameplay. You get a shitload of content with no monthly fee and the actual combat itself is a lot more enjoyable than most MMO's. It's just not as different as people think it is when you get to the core of it.
It's the same grindy shit with a better combat system put on top of it. This means PvP is funner, but you still have your grind to max level. GW2 has fun as shit jumping puzzles though. If you're a huge fan of Kreedz like I am you'll love it.
Not gonna lie, that looks awesome.
Personally, I have fun just dicking around while talking to my guild. I do my daily though, just because I need colors.
Cool. Makes me wonder why their previous updates sucked so much I stopped playing.

I can see both sides to the argument, so try it out for yourself. You might like it, you might not. You only have to buy the game, so it isn't a huge commitment.
I hear you can do this by yourself unlike most dungeons, anyone know if this is true?
it's a level 1 dungeon

But maybe that's just because I've never committed to a monthly fee for a game before, and I never plan to.

Wow, Rata Sum is packed. Seriously, the most people I have ever seen at once is about 10. (In Rata Sum)
Wow, Rata Sum is packed. Seriously, the most people I have ever seen at once is about 10.
Probably because why would you ever go to Rata Sum except to use the Gate or to pick up the exploration stuff?

I've had a blast leveling and I didn't even notice myself leveling due to the scaling system. I just ran around and did things that I found interesting and leveled just fine. I'm not max yet but I have yet to feel the need to grind. Defending/attacking a base, escorting an npc, collecting stuff (But not collect 100 and then come back kind of crap) and all sorts of other and very creative things. Then again, people will never be satisfied. People who just look to max out their characters after a week and then cry out that the game sucks are just dumb if you ask me. Most people who whine about GW2 did just that. Instead of actually playing exploring and playing the game as something other than a contest to see who has the most ADHD.
Probably because why would you ever go to Rata Sum except to use the Gate or to pick up the exploration stuff?
I like it, it's easy to navigate through and has everything all packed tightly together. Also because my only character is an Asura.
