This program can do it but it only works for Macs. Is there a windows equivalent? I haven't been able to find one yet. Why are all the cool programs for Macs? :S
What is this shared library?
Like on a network. You can share your library.

In iTunes. Thought I said that. Oops.
I use Windows 7 Homegroups to share files between computers, including music.
You shouldn't need any 3rd party software to share music, or anything for that matter.
I'm not talking about sharing between, say, my home desktop and my laptop. I mean sharing between my laptop and some other dude's iTunes library. Is it possible to just take his songs?
I believe there is a program out there called MyTunes, but I would assume using it for that purpose is of course illegal.
iTunes does it perfectly. Even shows people's Limewire collection if they are on your network.
sure it shows their lime and frost wire tunes but you cannot copy those songs to your personal itunes library, you can only listen to them when that person is online.

Yeah used that in the dorms back in the day.
