WINNETKA, Ill. (AP) - The 14-room brick house featured in the movie "Home Alone" is up for sale in suburban Chicago for $2.4 million.
Owners John and Cynthia Abendshien bought the red-brick Gregorian in 1988 for $875,000. They tell the Chicago Tribune that they know it's not the best time to put a high-end home on the market, but they hope the home's notoriety will help.
The 1990 movie featured a young Macaulay Culkin defending the house from intruders.
The house has 4,250 square feet and sits on a half-acre lot in suburban Winnetka, which is about 20 miles north of Chicago. There are four bedrooms and it features the staircase that Culkin sledded down in the movie.
Only pre-qualified buyers can make appointments to see the house, and no open houses are planned.[/quote]

$2.4 Million for this house seems a little high considering most of the kids who would buy it for nostalgic purposes aren't old enough to have that kind of money.
Pricey, but awesome.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Somebody should use it to make an illegitimate Home Alone sequel.

Does it have an intricate series of whacky and whimsical, yet oddly effective anti-burglar traps?

2.4 mil? That won't get me a place in North Van but it would get me a place in Kitsilano. Don't know how big though and probably not a waterfront lot.

If I were considering buying that house, I would only take it if they had a copy of that movie with the machine gun.

keep the change ya filthy animal
I'd totally buy that house if i had the cash. How's it expensive? If it was worth nearly a million in the eighties then it has to be worth two now.
