• Your feeling towards Female MCs (Rappers)?

Hello Facepunch, I come to you today with a question and (hopefully) starting a discussion. I started it specifically here as opposed to the Music Section because I am asking for what people personally think of the image, persona, and style of music FEMALE rappers present to world. It is no mystery that rappers have one of the most controversial images in the world of music, and while not all rappers are the same, many are lumped together into a negative stereotype. The 90's was the high point of hiphop in the United States with rappers such as Tupac, NOTORIOUS BIG, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and many more. However, the 90's was also the opportunity for the female rapper to emerge. The female MCs did a lot to shedding the close minded mentality towards women in the music industry with their rough and sexual lyrics which ultimatelly spiralled into the garbage rap we have today. Three of the biggest hitters in the 90's were: Missy Elliot Known for her freestyle Lil'Kim Queen Latifah Keep in mind that most female rappers (and all three listed above) could freestyle rap. That meant that if they were given a beat, a matching rap would come out of their mouths. SO let me ask you, what do you feel the female rappers of the 90's did to the image of women in music and women in general? Here is a video to give you an idea of how 90's rap was. MC isn't Rap-only. OT: I think they're the same as any other.
MC isn't Rap-only. OT: I think they're the same as any other.
I know, but they are referred to as MCs in the industry.
I was just noting how you put MCs (Rappers) but I understand.
Are you trying to get us to do your homework, or is just a ridiculously esoteric thread?
I just can't roll down the street hittin my switches makin mah car bounce with shit like "Yeah, you know I suck that dick real nice" blaring out of the speakers.

50 cent is pretty good
Where is lady of rage??!
There are some pretty decent female MCs out there but a lot of them try too hard and end up sucking because they're overcompensating. I'm personally more into British rap and hip hop (being English and all) and there's a massive lack of good female rappers, especially in the London scene. The only one I know of is Tor Cesay, she's not particularly well known but damn can she spit. it's because of all that unnecessary plastic surgeries she's done in the past.
