I recently came into some spare money, and thought I'd use it to purchase a new computer. I plan to use this new computer for editing movies/photos and working with audio related projects. Although I plan to install some older games such as Morrowind or Oblivion, I plan to use it seldom for gaming purposes.

-I have a 1TB external hard drive
-I come from the USA
Any advice on building a custom PC or linking me to a pre-built one (if you think that might work for me better) is appreciated.
You're going to want a prebuilt with an add-in HD5670. An OS cuts your money to $400, and at that, you'll have enough to buy a dual-core athlon II platform. But you can easily get a prebuilt with a 1TB HDD/Quad Core for $400, and a graphics card for $100.
I can reuse my copy of Windows 7 I currently have so that's no problem. Do you happen to have any certain sites that have good prebuilts? I only use Newegg for my computer needs usually so, I suppose I am a bit sheltered in buying computer parts.
Oh. You should have told us, dummy!
I'm just going to write this out, you'll have to find parts on your own.
Athlon II x3-435 $65
ASUS/MSI 785G mATX MOBO $60
HD4850 $100
~$225~
No idea what case..$40
Corsair 400W PSU $30
4GB DDR3 or DDR2-Dual Channel $90
~$385~
DVD drive $25
1TB HDD $80
~$490
Hopefully I forgot nothing.

I went with a smaller HDD because OP said he has a 1TB external. He'll probably have trouble filling just that.
