Let's say I don't have a computer, only a laptop, don't know how to put together a computer (I don't suspect it's that hard after you have all the components) don't know cpus, gpus, etc etc, and don't have a lot of money and want to play arma 2 at average about 35-45 fps probably during "moderate-intense fighting" so it would have some power to it -Budget - let's say $800, but $1,000 max -Games that you'll play/Applications you'll use: Pretty much ARMA 2 is the most demanding game I'd have -Where you live - California, USA Any more information needed will be given, thanks guys!
This should do well: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($32.71 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($149.99 @ NCIX US) Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($68.00 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card ($185.66 @ Newegg) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.61 @ B&H) Total: $815.94 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-12-23 15:15 EST-0500) If you want you can upgrade the case since it's a little on the low end. The 300R would be a nice medium tier upgrade, but for your purposes the 200R would probably suffice.
I'm just making sure on all of this, how well do you think it would perform on ARMA 2 at max settings? (minus anti-alias)
60 frames per second or above would be my expectations.
I was getting a second opinion, and someone told me they were worried about the case might be too small for both the cooler and gpu at the same time, (don't ask me, I don't know shit)
Well they are wrong. Also that doesn't make any sense at all. If anything would be too small for a cooler and GPU at the same time it would be a motherboard, and they are specifically designed to not be. I'm really curious how this person thinks that a CPU cooler and a GPU which occupy entirely different positions on the motherboard would conflict with each other. Proof just for assurances: [t]http://images.anandtech.com/doci/6515/Small%20(6%20of%208).jpg[/t] I know it's not the same GPU, but it's the same cooler and the GPU is the same size.
Alright, I might have worded it out wrong or that's exactly what he said, but I don't have any doubts now, thanks flayne, I'll buy it some day, I think I'll be able to get my old 650 watt psu from my old computer(I don't remember the model/brand), if that doesn't work out, I'll just order that exact one. Anyway, thanks flayne, I'ma bookmark this and buy this soon some time and let you know how it turns out if you want
