I am curious as to what the music scene is in your town. This thread is where we can talk about the local venues and bands. Share links and other general information. We have a lot of people come through this town that popular and tour through a few states. Panama City, Florida Our live music scene is pretty active, I would like to think. I am not the most active show goer, as I hate hardcore music, which is 60% of what this town is. We have three main venues. The Axis The nicest of the three venues. This is run by NorthStar Church, a pretty progressive church. The shorts and sandals kind of church that is very accessible to all types of Christians. This is the nicest of the three venues, as it is run and taken care of by a church. Has professional stage with professional audio equipment. A&M Theatre The A&M theatre is also a very nice venue. Has some professional audio equipment. The venue used to be an art gallery.. but you know how those usually turn out. It's pretty cool because the building is pretty much a loft. It's located in a small apartment in an old downtown shopping strip, so it's also kind of a house. Messy, usually looks nicer, but the best picture I can find that actually shows the whole room. Beck's Underground Beck's Underground is easily the most active venue still around. Beck's has a funny history. The venue got it's name from the road it was on, Beck Avenue. The venue was pretty run down, hot as balls, and was located in an area with lots of other business. Loud music, trouble making hardcore idiots, and business do not mix. The owners of Beck's didn't get forced out, but the people they were leasing it from really didn't want them there, so the owner got the hints and just looked for a new location. The new location is still pretty ghetto, slightly nicer though, but is still hot as balls. Old Beck's ] No picture of the new Beck's yet. Local Bands (Active Ones) Be Still Cody (My favorite) In The Rain (All my friends are in this one) Shot Down In May Truth Inside Trees Eating Humans Carousel Denouncer And various others I cannot remember right now. Notable touring bands who stopped by Bubble Gum Octopus Have You Seen My Ghost And various others I cannot remember right now. The Music 60% Hardcore/Punk/Metal Whatever these genre whores wanna call their similar sounding stuff. 25% Indie 10% Acoustic 5% Other Oh and we have shitty dubstep shows too. The crowd 75% Hardcore/Scene kids who are extremely annoying and douchey. 15% Hipsters. 10% normal cool people. So now go ahead and tell me about your music scene in your town. Tell about the venues, bands, and people. I'm curious as to how other towns are.
Most of the crowds in my town are hardcore/scene. Not many non-metal festivals. The metal ones usually suck ass too.
All the new pop shit
Newcastle Australia used to have a very alive music scene but the fucking council didn't do anything to encourage it properly and it broke
"what scene oh you mean those kids that dress up like emos" bascially
The San Fernando Valley pop/r&b/rap/what ever hardcore Hot Topic is pushing
I live in L.A. so... all of it.
We actually have a Ska/Punk show going on tomorrow.
I don't really go into the music section but I saw this thread from the home page so I figured it's worth posting this: Leavenworth, Washington It's sort of a tourist attraction town filled with Bavarian culture. Oktoberfest, brautwursts, beer and polka music fill up this town. So basically, this: Usually any time you go into town there'll be music playing over a loudspeaker ( since the town itself is very small. ) I guess this is just mainly because of the theme this town possesses, so you wouldn't really find much else here because of it's strict tourist attraction culture. [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] Oh and not to mention these baby's
One of my favorite bands here...They are forking awesome live. http://www.myspace.com/aceysghost
I just remember that Silverchair came from my town. Silverchair are awesome.
From what I can tell Everett, Washington does not have much that ain't generic Metal/Rock or whatever. Did find this, which I did like. But all the good stuff is like 30 minutes north or south. http://www.myspace.com/foadhardcore
It's all shitty rockabilly and punk where I live.
Cage the Elephant is all we got that's insanely popular, that I know of anyway.
There's more venues than you can shake a stick at here in glasgow, there's Stereo, the ABC, The Cathouse, Pivo Pivo, The Barrowlands, King Tuts, Ivory Blacks, The Classic Grand, The Carling Academy and a couple of student unions as well just to round things off. Dunno about local band gigs I don't really care enough to go, plus if I head to glasgow it's normally to uni or to go drinking :v:
Danish Smalltown called Brørup. Music scene; None, it doesn't exsist :frown:
No really huge artists come from were I live but we have a lot of metalheads here and a lot of local metal bands.
Lake Elsinore, California. There's a mariachi band at a Mexican restaurant a few blocks away from my house. That's about it.
There is no music scene where I live.
100% rap and hiphop [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] maybe some 60's rock too
The closest my town has to a 'scene' is a church hall where kids in indie cover bands play occasionally.
100% rap and hiphop [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] maybe some 60's rock too
This
I can't make a long ass post like the OP but I will post something. There is this one awesome metal band with two of my cousins. They mostly play shit with polyrhythms which is awesome. And there is a rad Blues band where a few of my uncles play in. And the rest are Green Day/Red Hot Chili Peppers cover bands and stuff like that.
The scene in my town is pretty good, there is a total mix of bands and artists. The main music thats played is mainly rock bands like guitar, drums, bass and all that. We have great acoustic artists and good acoustic venues. I fucking hate the Hardcore/metal scene here though, its full of pretentious metalheads who all have the same guitars and wanna be Metallica, fair play to them though if they wanna play that just its a bit of a dead scene. Heres a good old British Indie rock and roll group from my town that got pretty big (they made good friends with Pete Doherty): Heres a fantastic acoustic folky group, I love them: If you're into the whole Metal/Hardcore stuff heres one from my town, judge for yourself...:
We have a folk-esque band. They're really cool, they can all sing like fucking beasts. They're all also super talented. After every few songs, they trade instruments. Lead guitarist/vocalist will get on the drums, drummer will get on bass, bassist will get on lead guitar, etc. Their name is Eagle Statue and they sing about mountains and shit.
There's one little place I've never been to in our town called The Bang Bar, they get bands to play that are pretty Bring Me The Horizon esque so thats probably why.

[img_thumb]http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/37929591/Cage+the+Elephant+CTE+5.jpg[/img_thumb]
You be surprised by the amount of somewhat popular bands that are from our area(Kentucky).
Odd future, Rage against the machine NWA, we got it all...
San Diego, Reggae and Pop punk
does one person count as a scene
