• Aiming for a new build in comparaison with my old one.

After 4 years my current computer has handled games just fine, never had any issue, however I think that it's time to change it, I can't simply upgrade because most of the things are dell custom made also Christmas coming soon and I'll get some financial help from my parents, basically I'm gonna give my current pc to my brother and I'll be getting a new one. My computer is a dell pre-built (XPS 9100) - i7-920 @ 2.80ghz - ATI 5870 1,024mb - 12gb ram @ 1333 - 1tb HDD - Motherboard 05DN3X (Dell) My goal here is to get a better computer than the one given above. Things to take in note for the new build: - Budget is between 1100-1200$ (CAD). I'd love to keep it between that budget. - Would love to get 2 monitors if they are cheap, however I'd like the budget to go fully to the cpu, graphics. - Would love to get a 128gb SSD for my favorite game (Arma 2) and my OS, for the HDD 1tb or 2tb(if cheap) would fit me just fine. - Would like to operate on Windows 7 64, if there's a cheap deal for it then would be nice to be included. - At this time I don't need speakers, a mouse or a keyboard. - Computer will be most likely to play medium-high demanding games like arma 2 and arma 3 primarily and for next generation coming games. So far I've made thisfresh build based on this liquid cooled computer, the reason why I made the fresh build is because the liquid cooling one comes with an i5, no ssd, a custom made motherboard by them and only 8gb of ram. I'm not the best person when it comes to performances and computer hardware, but I kinda know my way around so I'd love if you guys could comment on the fresh build I've made and the other that I based it on. I don't mind accepting new builds from you guys but I'd like to keep them around the partpicker website since it's easy to manage things.
Only 8 GB? 8 GB is plenty; you will never overrun that just gaming. This is much faster: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2geYC The high end air cooler will give you the same performance as a single fan radiator; although, a dual fan radiator would be best (actually best would be a custom made loop).
I still wanna go with 12gb ram and an i7 atleast. Should I switch to theRadeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card instead of the 760?
I don't think you understand. The i7 is slower. Just because it's more expensive does not mean it's better. It will give you, on average, a slower framerate. If you still want to waste the money, at least turn off hyperthreading for gaming. The R9 280X is faster than the 760 (and the 770 for that matter). Why do you need 12 GB of RAM. There will literally be no performance difference.
I use 12gb because I'm a multitasker, also you say I will never overuse 8gb however BF4 recommended specs say 8gb. Mind explaining why an i7 would give me less performance? I appreciate the help it's just some little questions I have.

[editline]6th December 2013[/editline] also, considering you wanna dualchannel ram, if you want the 4gb ram sticks, you need to bump up to 16gb. cant just use 3 sticks.
Alright, I understand. Now between the liquid cooled computer and the one that flayne provided which one would be better for the money? The liquid one is about 100$ cheaper.
either will do good. Honestly, Liquid cooling is unneeded unless you're overclocking. If you really want the water cooling, buy an extra fan to attach to the radiator to help, just like flayne stated. [editline]6th December 2013[/editline] sorry, read that wrong. I'd say go with the one he provided, but personally I'd upgrade to 16gb ram. Is it all needed? probably not, but it can never hurt to have more than ya need.
I use 12gb because I'm a multitasker, also you say I will never overuse 8gb however BF4 recommended specs say 8gb. Mind explaining why an i7 would give me less performance? It's the exception to literally any rule regarding PCs you can come up with, but I doubt even that will honestly go over 8 GB. Multitasker? You still won't go over 8 GB. I have two monitors, and I use them both constantly, I've never gone above 8 GB.
The liquid one is about 100$ cheaper.
Wow you are bad at math. 1095 (my build) < 1238 (your build). My build is $143 cheaper.
buy an extra fan to attach to the radiator to help, just like flayne stated.
That's not what I meant. I meant buy a two fan radiator such as the H100i. As in it has takes up two fan slots in the case and has two fans on it. The longer radiator will give you much better performance.
Now between the liquid cooled computer and the one that flayne provided which one would be better for the money?
Mine is cheaper and faster. Your's is more expensive and slower. I'm going to go out on a limb and say mine has more value. Here's a build that's faster than the one I posted, faster than the one you posted, has 16 GB of RAM, and is liquid cooled: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2gwGE It also has one of the best prebuilt liquid cooling setups you can get.
Flayne, I meant the pre-built liquid computer that costs 999$, that's why I said cheaper. Anyways, I made a new build based on what you showed me, how does this look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2gEM7

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2gEM7
Flayne helped me with my build, without him i woulda wasted a large amount of money. Definitely listen to him on this stuff. Althought Battlefield says it requires 8gb of ram, i have never reached a point where i have used anywhere near that amount. Unless your planning on playing 2-3 games at the same time chances are you wont need that. Regarding graphics card, i am running a sapphire dual-x 280x, one of the lowest clocked models, im getting an average of 50-60fps using beta drivers with everything maxed (As well as Anti Aliasing) on battlefield.
You went from water cooling to an H212 evo? I'd get this HDD: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st1000dm003 Much faster, and you get an extra 500GB. This SSD should give you a bit of a speed boost for only 5 more dollars: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7te120bw Other than that, the build looks good. Also that liquid cooled prebuilt is nowhere near the build you created from it, so just saying "between the liquid cooled computer and the one that flayne provided which one would be better for the money," deserves extra clarification.
For the water cooling as this is my first build so I wanted to stay away for now and also heard that it needs constant maintenance. For the HDD you said I'd get 500gb however the one you linked is 1TB and the one I initially put is a 1.5tb, for the SSD I changed it to the one you said. What do you think about the graphic card? Between the 7970 GHZ 3GB, the GTX 770 4gb oc and the 280x radeon 3gb?
My mistake, I meant to link this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st2000dm001 Yesterday I would have recommended the R9 280X, but the prices changed drastically, and now between the R9 280X and 770, I don't really have a recommendation (there's no reason to pay for the 4 GB 770 though, I can't recommend that). If you aren't going to overclock, the R9 280X will be marginally faster. If you are the GTX 770 will be marginally (less so than the previously marginally) faster with a decently high overclock (including memory overclock). The 770 is usually slightly cheaper now it seems. Pick from this list: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#c=137,148&sort=a7&m=27 Keep in mind the top R9 280X on the list is out of stock for the vendor that sells it for 309.99, so it's actually something closer to $350.
Thanks for your help flayne, I took in consideration your suggestions. How does this look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2gJaH One last thing, between the 7970 ghz 3gb and the 770 gtx 2gb what is your opinion? Anything I should change or am I getting good stuff for the price? I know I added the back the H100i, should I keep it or just go with the cheaper evo 212? I wanted to go with the 280x but it's out of stock in the 3 sites and I need this build before Christmas.
Regarding the 7970: The only one presently worth the money is: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-fx797gtdfc It's a bit slower than the R9 280X by a few (think 1-3) FPS. I've already given my opinion on the R9 280X vs the GTX 770, so you can base it off that. Regarding the cooling: It depends on the overclock you are going for. If you are thinking 4.2 GHz, H212 evo. If you are thinking closer to 4.5 GHz, H100i (or if you just want lower temperatures on the 4.2GHz). If you care about noise, H100i will give you a much quieter build. The ideal thing to do is go with custom water cooling; although, that's something rarely attempted on a first build.
