I think I bought a shitty gamepad. Can it be fixed?

This is the one I just bought:

In some games it works fine, but others give me huge problems.
Spelunky: No problems whatsoever.
Little Fighter 2: Works fairly well, but it makes me use the analog stick instead of the D-pad
Trine: Is mostly ok, but I can't use the wizard character properly. There's a cursor on the screen which SHOULD be movable with the right analog stick, but the game seems only to register the right analog stick as another set of 4 buttons. The controller has a "mode" button which, according to control panel's Game Controllers menu thing, switches between button functions and joystick movement on that right stick, but Trine seems to ignore that function.
Red Faction Guerrilla: Everything is rotated to the right. To move forward, I push left on the analog stick. To move right, I push up. To confirm a menu choice, I should hit 3 (the equivalent of X on the playstation) but instead I have to hit 2 (the equivalent of O on the playstation).
Saint's Row 2: The game crashes if I have the controller plugged in while starting it. If I plug the controller in after starting it, the game doesn't acknowledge its existence.
GTA4: Doesn't register the presence of a controller at all.
It's highly shitty that these games don't work properly with the controller, because they were my main cause for buying it in the first place. Is there anything I can do to fix all these problems, or did I just waste :20bux:?
I already downloaded the latest driver from their site, so that won't help me.
Have you checked the controls in the game to see if they can be mapped to the correct buttons on the controller?
Repeatedly
I've never heard of this brand at all. It could just be a shitty no-name gamepad.
As for GTA4, the only supported gamepad is the Xbox 360 controller.

You never heard about Steelseries? Wow..
Have you tried calibrating it?
Otherwise this is a odd problem

I buy Logitech and Microsoft (used to buy Gravis). I don't get around much on gamepads. I just use the keyboard and mouse.

GTA4 and SR2 are hard as hell to play with keyboard and mouse. SR2 especially, because the car-steering controls are sensitive as hell.
I guess now I'm just going to have to give up this gamepad and buy a 360 controller.

I'm not sure what this means.
You can use AutoHotKey scripts to remap joystick buttons: http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/RemapJoystick.htm
There was a great program that I remember I used to remap joystick buttons however the name escapes me.. try asking on the Steam Forums' L4D section, someone there is bound to remember.

There is a way to use pretty much any gamepad with GTA4

Was it xpadder or joytokey? I used xpadder a while ago and loved it but I heard from somewhere that it cost money now. Joytokey also worked well.
