I need to fined an image file for Windows XP home edition 32bit, as im fixing a friends computer after a hardrive faliure. As it turns out he never kept any of the disks from when he first bought the computer. I purchased a new hardrive for him but now i need to reinstall the OS. Does anyone know where I can download it I already have the product key and dont want any cracked software.
You might be able to request a disc from the manufacturer. You probably just have to pay shipping and handling. And maybe a small fee. That's if its a prebuilt anyway.
If you have the serial, go torrent/download an .iso (make sure you choose a "reliable" source) and use that. As long as you own the serial key, it's in the legal greyzone, and Microsoft won't ddo anything about it.

The versions you might find on these sites will generally be "Retail" copies, where if OP wants to use the licence on the side of the computer, he needs an OEM version to accept the serial number. They're a bit harder to find, though just make sure to include OEM in your search, eg. "Windows XP Home OEM". Of course, make sure you've exhausted all of your options before downloading such things.
-snip didn't read fully-
