“various data on XSplit’s servers may have been compromised; In particular, your XSplit account name and password, as well as account name and stream key for live streaming services that you have used.”
the hell were they even storing these for?
Here we go again.
I would have done this had my PSU not smoked itself to death. :v:
Why? Like, why bother with XSplit? :v:
Why? Like, why bother with XSplit? :v:
Agreed OBS is waaaay better.
the hell were they even storing these for?
so when you log on else where on another installation it can get your stream keys without needing to re-enter them
Oh, geez. Is it really that hard to salt passwords? Great.
Oh, geez. Is it really that hard to salt passwords? Great.
Some Dev's are lazy, and simply hope that the system doesen't get breached. Salting isn't hard, and for the love of god, pray they aren't using MD5 to hash passwords.
Why? Like, why bother with XSplit? :v:
I used it before OBS became a thing.
May I ask what salting stored data does besides making it taste delicious?
May I ask what salting stored data does besides making it taste delicious?
https://crackstation.net/hashing-security.htm Basically makes it hard as shit to decrypt the passwords
Oh, geez. Is it really that hard to salt passwords? Great.
Yep. A lot of sites simply don't give two shits about account security. I got tired of that and simply started using a password manager a year or so back.
What's the point of resetting my password. If somebody broadcasted on my channel I might get more views.

They give you a free 6 months pro (Not much difference really but still a nice touch) if you're a student too. https://lastpass.com/edupromo.php
so when you log on else where on another installation it can get your stream keys without needing to re-enter them
which is dumb, your stream key is meant to be kept as private as possible. It's not a massive inconvenience to re-enter your stream key occasionally. They shouldn't be stored on xsplit servers.
I use KeePass.
Keepass is nice but I enjoy the 'cloud' synchronization of LastPass. The browser integration is much nicer too IMHO.
Why? Like, why bother with XSplit? :v:
Agreed. Why anyone would want to pay MONTHLY for this resource hogging piece of crap is beyond my understanding. I used the free version for a while and ditched it instantly when i found out about OBS.
