The United States is talking with Israel about the possibility of releasing convicted spy Jonathan Pollard early from his life sentence as an incentive in the troubled Mideast peace negotiations, a person familiar with the situation said Monday. Such an extraordinary step would show the urgency of U.S. efforts to keep negotiations alive. U.S. defense and intelligence officials have consistently argued against releasing Pollard. Pollard, a Jewish American, was a civilian intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy when he gave thousands of classified documents to his Israeli handlers. The Israelis recruited him to pass along U.S. secrets including satellite photos and data on Soviet weaponry in the 1980s. He was arrested by FBI agents in Washington in 1985 after unsuccessfully seeking refuge at the Israeli Embassy in Washington. He pleaded guilty to leaking classified documents to Israel and received a life sentence. President Barack Obama and his predecessors have refused to release Pollard despite pleas from Israeli leaders.
a person familiar with the situation said Monday
this makes it sound like they asked some dude on the street if he knew what was going on in the middle east and then used him as a source

This article from the NY Times implies that its "multiple officials", their title isn't good though because I believe the traitor ended up renouncing his American citizenship. Maybe we should stop trying to appease Israel for no reason. Who gives a shit if our relationship with them is sour? It should be, until they stop expanding their messianic settlements in the West Bank and elsewhere. Why should we let this traitor walk free to assuage the hurt feelings of a racist military state?

Tbh the fact that we're trying to appease Israel for cooperation shows who the real problem with peace in the middle east is; it's not Palestine.

The US is propping up a fascist government like its always done.
Israel is the only country I can think of that recruits foriegners to spy on their own country. Like that Australian recruit who killed himself.
thats why we send them billions for weapons right? The US is propping up a fascist government
I don't think you know what that word means.
like its always done.
Or that one.
What a great ally of America. Should offer not to execute him instead.
Or, you know, threaten Israel instead. That tends to work better.
I don't think you know what that word means. Or that one.

is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism
Government run by veteran army leaders who lead mass killings, Mandatory military service, apartheid against Palestinians, belief that Isreal is their god given land, etc 35 countries where the U.S. has supported fascists, drug lords and terrorists http://www.salon.com/2014/03/08/35_countries_the_u_s_has_backed_international_crime_partner/
5.
