Baa Baa African American Sheep - Is The Nursery Rhyme "Baa Baa Black Sheep" Racist and Sexist?
Staff at childcare centres in the south-eastern suburbs told the Herald Sun the lyric was being changed because of concerns over the racial connotations of “black”, and to reflect a multicultural community.
(This is all I'm quoting because I learn from my mistakes. Sorry.)

Orange is the new African American, coming to Netflix this summer
I'm getting sick of pandering to the offended.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Noooooooooooooo.
Betteridge's law of headlines saves the day again.
As far as I know the word "black" is hardly racist. Songs about black sheep isn't racist either. This is just dumb.

offended who lol?
it's complete morons fabricating controversy which only subsequent morons fall for
Gavin said: “I am a person who has black skin. Can we please stop with the political correctness, it’s becoming a joke. The song is called baa baa black sheep. No need to change it!”
Yep. I remember seeing almost this exact news story a few years ago, where they changed "black" to "rainbow"
Seriously? It's not putting black people in any negative light or whatever, it's literally just a colour.

That sums it up pretty well
Let's ban everything black.
My pc is black. I should smash it right now.
My hairs are black. I should shove them off.
Oh, guess what, the central part of the iris is black, well I gues no more eyes for me.
Hold on while I tell the people at Oxford to change the word "black" in their dictionary to "goobarps" or similar
The black sheep is clearly a slave, working for "the master," "the dame," and his little boy who "lives down the lane." The wool is clearly a metaphor for picking cotton, and it implies that "the master" is entitled to ownership to both a slave (the black sheep,) and a "dame." This paints a picture of a despotic white man who runs black men, women, and children as a business.
Or, you know, it's just a sheep.
"Isn't it weird that nobody else finds the term 'black sheep' racist except me?"
Black sheep has been an idiom for centuries, and the only time it has ever had any racial connotations is when you say there are. Good job child care centers, you're the ones who are making it something about race.
There's something about this that's so African American, it's like how much more African American could this be? And the answer is none. None more African American.
I'm getting sick of pandering to the offended.
Normally I think people who say this sort of thing are silly and like to encourage everyone to be considerate to others
But this is fuckin dumb man
More the needless part of it were we define if other people are offended or not and never even ask the offended party what they think (if they even exist).
Pandering to the offended can be done even if the offended does not exist.
Is it just me that finds the term "African American" more racist than just "black." I mean, the implication that all black people are from Africa there is fucking racist as all hell. Not to mention how it also implies that all black people are also American, but that's not the huge issue here.
Why do you all care if some random childcare centers changes the lyrics to some random nursery rhyme?
Baa Baa Low Albedo Sheep doesn't have the same ring to it.

Because, surprise surprise, children are easily impressionable and indoctrinating them with bullshit is bad for society. You know, children being the future and all that, it's KIND OF JUST MAYBE A LITTLE IMPORTANT that we don't fuck them up with stupid shit.

Its just a different version of the song, which was already a modernized version.
You're really exaggerating here.

segregated transit systems? Valve is such a racist dev
My younger sister has just started college training to be a primary school teacher, and the lecturer went around the class asking people nursery rhymes they remembered as a child. Someone said "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and the lecturer just says "No we're not allowed use that one anymore" and just continued around the class like nothing had happened, and all the students were all looking at each other confused. Afaik in Britain it's not taught either.
Wasn't this apparently going to be a thing years ago, but never did?
But black sheep aren't imported from Africa? And they aren't necessarily American? And...what?
Thankfully there's a simple solution:
Everything that once referred to "black" will now be referred to as "Value 0, 0, 0".

The entire problem comes down to the fact that the US has accepted the idea that humanity is somehow divided in actual Races, and that Racism = treating these Races differently.
If people would stop actually considering darker skin a "race" then maybe there would be less people actually considering what they have been told is a different kind of people inferior to their own kind.
It's really interesting how the term "racist" drastically changes definitions in French and English. When I was at school in France I was told that racism is the thought/action of dividing humanity into races, which is not actually possible - we don't have races, we're all one people with ethnic and physical variations that are a result of long-lasting settlements in drastically different locations. In the US however and in the English language in general, racism means that you're treating the established and accepted races differently from one another.
Long story short, acknowledging races even exist is racist on its own right.
Its not racist or sexist, its homophobic
A black sheep is one who is radically different from the norm and not talked about, ie the black sheep of the family being the cousin or son who everyone believes to be gay or is openly gay
Now it also can refer to just a black colored sheep which isn't uncommon either, most sheep aren't white at all
What next, twinkle twinkle banned for being trans-phobic?
