• Rear Speakers on 5.1 Surround Sound Not Emitting Sound?

I set up our 5.1 channel audio system on my computer. I have it running on my S/PDIF port on my motherboard. Everything is plugged into the right sockets. I am just wondering if I have missed anything? I am unsure and I can't seem to find any answers on google. If it is important, my Audio System is the Sony DP-800-AV. It would be really great if you can help!
1:You need a game that supports surround sound. 2:Your computer eneds to have surround sound enabled. 3:Your Sony DP-800-AV has to have surround sound enabled. You can probably put your audio set at stereo and listen to music on all speakers (but it would just be stereo trough 5 speakers not surround sound) [editline]11:42AM[/editline] Also its more of a 5.0 system since you do not have a seperate subwoofer. 5.1 means that you have 5 speakers and 1 sub. 7,1=7 speakers 1 sub. ect
Thanks for telling me but I have surround sound enabled on my Dolby Digital Software on my PC and I use my computer alot to watch movies and it doesn't seem to work. I thought it was 5.1 as it says it is? Anyway, I will just stuff around with some stuff on the audio system, I might find something.
look for something called speaker fill or matrix mode, it will force stereo to play through all speakers, otherwise its just going to play through 2, as stereo
Where would I be looking for that?
In your audio drivers software, Since I'm using integrated, its the realtek control panel, your drivers might have another name for the software but its the same idea
I am using my S/PDIF integrated port but I can use either my Realtek Controls or my Dolby one? And look what I found in the environments. Down the bottom..
For me I go to Control Panel and then Sound Effect Manager and select 6 channel mode for 5.1 speaker output under the speaker configuration tab. I have a 7.1 and the woofer has a switch to the side that converts the 5.1 into 7.1
I can not seem to find anything like you have said? Are you using Windows 7?
Don't enable speaker fill if you intend to watch 5.1 movies. You're going to want to go into the settings for Speakers in your Win7 playback devices, go to Levels and turn down 'Main Volume'. That will reduce the volume of the two front speakers, bringing them to the very quiet level of the rear and center. Then just raise the overall volume and with some tweaking they'll all be on the same volume. [editline]06:49PM[/editline] Once you've done this you can enable speaker fill to have music coming from all speakers. Just remember to turn it off if you want to watch a 5.1 movie or listen to 5.1 music (like some of the Flaming Lips work).
The problem is I can't find the settings?
See that orange speaker thing on your taskbar? open that program and then make sure its in 5.1 mode. then click this button.
I went into that but I don't have the speaker tab. I only have the Digital in an out Tabs. Btw, what motherboard to you have?
