1 Computer : Laptop Windows Vista 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo some crap video card 3 GB RAM PC: Windows XP 3.0 Ghz AMD Single Core 512 Mb RAM 512 Mb Video card GDDR3 Is there a way to connect them together for file transfer using internet cable? Like internet port to internet port?
What operating system are they using each?
PC is using Windows XP
Just go network, choose laptop/pc and go into public, place files in there.
PC is using Windows XP
What about the laptop? If it's using Vista or Seven, I don't think you can do it. If it's XP, just click on start>my network places and the other computer might be there

It's not helping him.
I guess you meant Ethernet cable by internet cable. If so then yes. Just connect them, configure both of them at local network (ie 192.168.0.0 network), then enable sharing option for folders you want to transfer, then you will be able to access that folder at other PC's "My network places" folder
You need a crossover cable to connect them directly, From what I remember, otherwise you need to use a router. To "Copy-paste" files across, (once they are connected), Go to the command box prompt thing, type ipconfig. Find the IPv4 address. Go to the other computer vista its easy, In the search bar thing of the menu type \\<IP address here> Remember the two "\\"s Easy.
