Six officers were arrested and await trial in the case.
Video also in source.
-snip- thinking of another one of these cases
Wait I thought they were let off by a grand jury
Uhhh no. They had one hearing where the motion to drop all charges was dismissed and six separate trials were ordered.
Wasn't the family caught brawling in the street over T-shirt printing rights the other week?
Wasn't the family caught brawling in the street over T-shirt printing rights the other week?
Yeah I hard something about that. According to tons of sources, including an interview I saw with a BCPD officer, Freddie Gray was known to fake injuries (I.E. him hanging and screaming while being taken to the van) and he was also a known drug dealer (mostly heroin).
Ah yes just what Baltimore needs, less money.
Sounds like she might end up in jail again soon.
a bunch of pot possession charges, with speculative "intent to distribute" charges tacked on, either way they had no right to arrest him, he was following his 2nd amendment rights to bear an arm within the law (yes knives fall under 2nd amendment NRA!)
He was a known heroin dealer in a heroin neighborhood. Probable cause to at least look at him. He took off running. I think that's probable cause to at least talk to him. Look his record up here. Freddie Gray, birthdate of August 1989. Way too much money to the wrong type of people

While it is not a crime under Federal law, it is sometimes considered an obstruction of justice by State and Local law.
I wish i could rate this funny. (User was banned for this post ("I wish I could rate this dumb" - Big Dumb American))
Wow, this drug dealing thug's death is worth 6 million? This is bullshit man. This kid was fussed about for no reason.
Wasn't the family caught brawling in the street over T-shirt printing rights the other week?
That was not Freddie Gray, that was fucking Micheal Brown. This kid was fussed about for no reason.
I'm sorry, but the random snapping of a fucking spine because of unreasonably rough handling isn't a reason for fussing? I mean for christ's sake, spines don't break on their own you know, you have to have a pretty big force for that to happen.
I always wonder how they determine these millions of dollars worth for a person, in reaching a settlement like this. I'll be damned if they didn't push for something ludicrously higher.
Wow, this drug dealing thug's death is worth 6 million? This is bullshit man. This kid was fussed about for no reason.
Yeah man, we should have just let an unlawful death slide because the dude dealt drugs.
Yeah I hard something about that.According to tons of sources, including an interview I saw with a BCPD officer, Freddie Gray was known to fake injuries (I.E. him hanging and screaming while being taken to the van) and he was also a known drug dealer (mostly heroin).
Well he certainly didn't fake breaking his spine and dying while handcuffed in the back of a police van.
Well he certainly didn't fake breaking his spine and dying while handcuffed in the back of a police van.
No but the video of him dragging his feet pretending to be hurt as he was put in the van was him over reacting, as many arrestees do.
No but the video of him dragging his feet pretending to be hurt as he was put in the van was him over reacting, as many arrestees do.
everyone overreacts when being arrested, but no one ends up dead before arriving to the jail. this was an unlawful death, so I'm not surprised at all that the family won the settlement.
No but the video of him dragging his feet pretending to be hurt as he was put in the van was him over reacting, as many arrestees do.
How exactly are you determining that he was "overreacting" and not genuinely hurt from being body slammed moments before? Not only that, but what do his theatrics have to do with him severing his spine after not being secured in the back of a police vehicle?
Because he's done this before.
Again though it's not been shown that these particular officers knew anything of him on that night, or that they had prior history with him, they learned of all that after the fact
Again though it's not been shown that these particular officers knew anything of him on that night, or that they had prior history with him, they learned of all that after the fact
Not the six involved from what we know, as far as what has been released, but tons of others knew his rapsheet. I posted a link earlier to look up his criminal record. I suggest you do it. Tons of CDS charges.
Because he's done this before.
A different question: How many times do you think Gray broke his own spine? You are picking a very meaningless hill to die on. I'm sure zealous police-defenders think black people are these mystical beings that can shrug off bullets, tasers, and physical violence like juggernauts, but can somehow break their own spines while handcuffed.
Even the guy in the back of the van with him gave the same story as the officers'. And they haven't even prosecuted the officers yet. That's pretty fucked up

Tons of CDS charges.
ya but if the officers involved didn't know, then its not relevant to the arrest at the time, all they saw was a man on the street who ran away, they chased him down and threw him in the truck, then he arrives with a broken neck and dies in jail. the officers went after him after he ran away when an officer saw him, they were not stopping him before he ran, they didn't have a reason to go after him, they had no reasonable suspicion or any reasonable fear of danger at that point, an officer came down the road on patrol, he ran away, then they chased him down
